Outlook: With a new and inexperienced group, the Dragons are hoping to show improvement.
“The majority of our team is new to the sport, and they are learning to build their endurance,” Powell said. “We are excited with our new group of athletes and look forward to the season. We are also hoping to advance another athlete to state this season.”
Shadow Ridge took home the Class 5A state cross country titles Saturday in Boulder City, and Desert Oasis’ Kenan Dagge claimed the individual title.

Last season ended in disappointing fashion for The Meadows’ tennis program after the boys and girls teams lost in the state finals, but both will get another chance this week.
The individual and doubles boys state tennis tournament began Monday and ends Friday. State tournaments also are scheduled for girls tennis and girls golf.
Faith Lutheran’s girls golf team made the 5A state tournament this year and believes it has a legitimate shot to win it all.
The playoff races in boys and girls high school tennis in Southern Nevada are heating up, and the girls golf postseason is about to begin as well.
