2017 Desert Oasis Girls Cross Country Capsule

DESERT OASIS

League: Class 4A Southwest

Head coach: Jerome Streets, third season

Returning letter winners: Five

Top athletes: Jillian Kieffer (Sr.), Madison Gould (Jr.), Katherine Rojas-Barreto (Sr.)

Outlook: The Diamondbacks return five letter winners from last year’s team.

Kieffer (44th place), Gould (45th) and Rojas-Barreto (64th) all ran in last year’s Sunset Region meet and hope to help the team improve.

“The Diamondbacks girls team is looking to be more competitive against the strong cross country programs of the Sunset Region,” Streets said. “The team is working to build more consistency to achieve their goals.

“The 2017 goals include competing for divisional and regional championships, as well as earning a spot in the state meet.”
