Faith Lutheran girls claim top six places, cruise to victory in Moapa Valley Invitational

Faith Lutheran’s girls cross country team swept the top six spots Saturday en route to an easy victory in the Moapa Valley Invitational at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Overton.

Sadie Oakley won the 3.1-mile race in 20 minutes, 40 seconds. Crusaders runners took the next five spots as Madeline Work (21:19), Kendall Larson (21:26), Sidney Bihrer (22:00), Natalie Behmer (22:07) and Katie Young (22:15) all crossed the finish line before Pahrump Valley’s Grace Plumb broke the string by taking seventh place in 22:36.

Faith Lutheran had a perfect score of 15. Pahrump was second with 53 points, followed by Moapa Valley with 79 and Virgin Valley with 101.

In the boys race, Pahrump’s Bryce Odegard continued his fantastic season, easily winning the race in 16:21.

It was the fourth victory of the season for Odegard, who has finished either first or second in all six of his meets this year.

Faith Lutheran’s Mark Wilbourne was second in 16:56, and teammate Aidan Baughan third in 17:13. They helped the Crusaders take the team title with 39 points.

Pahrump was second with 48 points. Moapa Valley was third with 58, and Lake Mead took fourth with 77 points, followed by Coral Academy (147) and GV Christian (180).
