GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Gatson helps Roadrunners win tri-meet

Carla Gatson won a 3.1-mile race in 23 minutes, 18 seconds on Tuesday as Tech’s girls cross-country team won a three-team home meet.

The Roadrunners had 26 points. Boulder City was second with 30 and Sunrise Mountain did not post a team score.

Boulder City’s Jessica Embro finished second in 25:02, followed by teammate Niquel Nussear in 25:26.

Gators take top 10 spots, rout Silverado

At Silverado, Green Valley runners took the top 10 places in a 15-50 win over the Skyhawks.

The Gators’ top five runners — Lindy Eskin, Stacie Hall, Sara Braverman, Dani Varner and Jenna Landman — all finished the 2.37-mile race in 16:55.

Panthers cruise past Mustangs

At Shadow Ridge, Marissa Suan and Samantha Reintjes finished 1-2 in the 2.95-mile race, as Palo Verde rolled to a 20-39 win over the Mustangs.

Suan crossed the line in first place for the Panthers with a 19:09 time, and Reintjes finished just after in 19:13. Teammate Kate Vanderstelt took fourth in 20:27.

Jessica Graf was third in 20:06, and Ciara Jackson (20:51) finished fifth for Shadow Ridge.

Diamondbacks take tri-meet

At Desert Oasis, Brooke Locey won the 2.5-mile race by more than one minute as the Diamondbacks scored 21 points to defeat Bonanza (40 points) and Adelson School in a tri-meet.

Locey crossed the line in 16:43 and teammate Alexandra Myers was second in 17:46. Desert Oasis’ Delaney Paul finished fifth in 18:10.

Alexsis Chavez-Vela was third for Bonanza in 17:57, followed closely by teammate Antonia Chavez-Vela (17:59).

Aggies handle Grizzlies

At Floyd Lamb Park, Madison Fletcher won the 3.1-mile race in 20:15, helping Arbor View cruise to a 15-50 victory over Spring Valley.

Isabella Sakai was a close second in 20:22, and teammates Esperanza Zilleruelo (20:38), Nicole Snow (21:22) and Kamryn Higgins (21:41) rounded out the top five for the Aggies.

Bulldogs dominate three-team meet

At The Meadows, Sydney Badger won the 2.7-mile race in 15:59 to help Centennial win the three-team meet.

The Bulldogs placed three runners in the top five and finished with 25 points. The Meadows was second with 38 points, while Cimarron-Memorial had 66.

Centennial’s Katie Gorczyca was second with a time of 16:53, and teammate Marieta Wright was fifth (18:23).

Jeneke Heerema was the top finisher for The Meadows, taking third in 17:31. Teammate Bailey Gosse took fourth in 17:48.

Jaguars down Pirates

At Desert Pines, Kenia Lopez-Bobbitt won a 2.9-mile race in 20:30 to lead the Jaguars to a 23-33 win over Moapa Valley.

Desert Pines’ Alondra Diaz (22:00) and Brittany Dribben (22:18) finished second and third, respectively.

Moapa Valley’s Kacy Udall (22:36) and Heilish Gordon (24:13) rounded out the top five.

Crusaders top Mojave

At Faith Lutheran, the Crusaders took the top five spots and earned a 15-44 win over Mojave.

Hannah Pavlov won the 3.1-mile race in 21:02 for Faith Lutheran. Jessica Scamman (22:28) was second, followed by teammates Eryn McCoy (23:50), Emily Seigle (24:07) and Isabella Russell (25:18).

Valley tops Canyon Springs

At Valley, Jeri Betemarium won a 3.1-mile race in 20:49.5 to lead the Vikings over Canyon Springs, who failed to field a full team.

Valley’s Brooke Timothy was second in 21:24.1, and Paige Timothy was third in 22:07.3 for the Vikings.
