GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Jensen, Longhorns slip by Bengals

Danae Jensen won a 3.1-mile race in 22 minutes, 19 seconds on Wednesday and helped host Legacy’s girls cross country team to a 25-30 victory over Bonanza.

The Longhorns’ Nicole White was second in 23:14. Bonanza’s Alexsis Antonio-Chavez was third in 23:22.

Spartans take top two spots, win at Gorman

At Bishop Gorman, Tiana Callejo won a 3.1-mile race in 23:54, and Cimarron-Memorial took the top two spots on its way to a 21-34 win over the Gaels.

The Spartans’ Rachael Sawyer was second in 24:58, and teammate Gabrielle Brooks was fifth in 25:32.

Gorman’s Arielle Poole (25:20) was third, and Emily Romero (25:25) finished fourth for the Gaels.

Maxwell, Rams top Pioneers

At Canyon Springs, Aryn Maxwell won a 2.9-mile race in 21:31 and helped Rancho to a win over the Pioneers, who did not field a full team.

Canyon Springs’ Brooklyn Allison was second in 21:57, and Rancho’s Joan Casabar took third in 23:42.

Falcons down Dragons

At Foothill, the Falcons took the top 12 spots to easily defeat Del Sol, which had just two runners.

Alyse Vanek ran away from the competition, finishing the 2.5-mile race in 15:58.6. Raegan Janda (17:21.8) was second and Airyanna Medina (17:57.5) third.

Wolves roll to win

At Eldorado, Basic took the top four spots en route to a 16-47 win over the Sundevils.

Megan McArthy won the 3.1-mile race in 23:20.2 for the Wolves. Brittney Ciaramella (24:09.7), Stephanie Gutierrez (24:11.8) and Payge Farewell (24:15.9) followed McArthy for Basic.

Ortega, Wildcats win at Silverado

At Silverado, Sharon Ortega won a 2.37-mile race in 16:45 to lead Las Vegas to a 21-35 win over the Skyhawks.

Las Vegas' Jennifer Berrelleza was second in 18:12.

Silverado's Rachel Katz was third in 18:40, followed by teammate Hannah Mohler in 19:05.
