Roundup: Centennial runs away with Red Rock Invitational victory

Four of the top five placers at Saturday’s 3-mile Red Rock Invitational Sunset Meet at Floyd Lamb Park were members of Centennial’s girls cross country team, and the Bulldogs cruised to a victory with 19 team points.

Arbor View was second with 37 points, and Bishop Gorman was third with 68.

Centennial’s Alexis Gourrier won the race in 18 minutes, 46 seconds. Delani Dietrich (19:39) was third, McKenzie Morgan (20:09) was fourth, and Josephine Ruggieri (20:11) was fifth.

Elaine Bruestle from Arbor View placed second with a time of 19:07.

Raquel Chavez-Velazquez wins Sunrise race

Basic’s Raquel Chavez-Velazquez finished with a time of 18:59 to cruise to a victory in the 3-mile Red Rock Invitational Sunrise Meet at Floyd Lamb Park.

Mia Smith from Green Valley came in second with a time of 19:45.

Coronado won the team meet with 30 points. Green Valley was second with 48 and Basic’s 52 points placed it third.

Claire Rawlins was the top finisher for the Cougars, and her 20:00 time was good for third. Teammate Caitlin Shannon (20:52) placed fourth.
