Roundup: Emilia Puskas cruises to victory at Cornerstone Park

Bishop Gorman’s Emilia Puskas won Wednesday’s 2-mile race by a margin of more than a minute to win a girls cross country race at Cornerstone Park.
Puskas finished the race in 12 minutes, 49 seconds for the Gaels, who won the team meet with a score of 27. Clark was second with 35 points, and Green Valley was third with 80 points.
Ashley Lee from The Meadows placed second with a time of 14:03.
Clark’s Gwen Bernardinelli finished third with a time of 14:22, followed by two Chargers in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Gaels claimed the next six placements.
Arbor View handidly wins at Floyd Lamb Park
At Floyd Lamb Park, Arbor View had six of the top seven finishers to cruise to victory in a 3.1-mile race.
Arbor View had 18 team points, followed by Shadow Ridge (60) and Virgin Valley (98).
Arbor View”s Elaine Bruestle won the race with a time of 19:05.41, followed by teammate Adrianna Carlsen (20:58.98). Somerset-Losee’s Maranda McGuigan finished third with a time of 21:41.87.
Basic defends home turf
At Basic, the Wolves finished with seven of the top nine finishers to roll to victory in a 2.5-mile race.
Basic’s Raquel Chavez-Velazquez won the race with a time of 16:54.6, followed by teammates Hunter Hughes (18:07.0) and Abby Robinson (19:04.4). Jaqueline Cabello from Las Vegas finished in fourth with a time of 19:19.7.
Basic’s 18 points dominated the team score. Las Vegas was second with 49, and Del Sol was third with 80.
