ROUNDUP: Patriots place three in top five to win girls meet

Liberty's girls had three of the top five runners, finishing with 31 points, to win a three-team meet at Basic on Wednesday.

Basic was second with 44, and Boulder City finished with 68 points.

Liberty’s Joslyn Evans finished first individually with a time of 20:41 for three miles.

Chaparral wins three-team race
At Canyon Springs, Chaparral had four of the top eight finishers to win a three-team meet.

The Cowboys had a team score of 39. Eldorado was second at 44, followed by Rancho at 67.

Canyon Springs’ Heather Hollinger won the 2.8-mile race in 19:01. Eldorado’s Claudia Gonzalez was second in 19:30.

Crovetti leads Gorman girls to win
At Tech, freshman Brielle Crovetti won the 2.5-mile race by 27 seconds to lead Bishop Gorman to the team title with 37 points.

Green Valley was second with 41 and Tech third with 49.

Crovetti won the race in 16:29. Tech’s Claudia Perez was second in 16:56.

Laurent, Cougars roll
At Sonata Park, Coronado’s Michaelanne Laurent won in 17:18 — 1:09 faster than anyone else — to lead the Cougars to an easy win on the 2.8-mile course.

Coronado scored 22 points, followed by Arbor View (62), Palo Verde (75), Valley (94) and Desert Oasis (136).

Arbor View’s Katie Carrell was second in 18:27, followed by Coronado’s Lauren Lucas (18:36) and Kristal Hosaka (18:44).
