ROUNDUP: Schenck, Shadow Ridge win girls cross country meet

Shadow Ridge’s Michele Schenck placed first individually Wednesday, and the Mustangs took eight of the top 10 spots to roll to a girls cross country win at Centennial.

Schenck won the 2.6-mile race in 16 minutes, 20 seconds. Shadow Ridge’s Palolo Prince (16:54) was second and teammate Mallory Reese (17:16) third.

Shadow Ridge had a team score of 17 points. Centennial finished second with 46 points, with Moapa Valley third at 85.

Clark’s pack steams to win
At Cheyenne, Clark packed its top three runners to finish within one second of each other as the Chargers won a four-team meet.

Elisa Vazquez finished third in 16:21, alongside teammate Kira Espinoza-Levy. Julianna Thornock was fifth in 16:22.

The Chargers had a team score of 29. Faith Lutheran was second with 43, followed by Legacy (85) and Cheyenne (91).

Faith Lutheran’s Keely Bakken won the 2.25-mile race in 15:08. Legacy’s Skye Lucttsinger was second in 16:14.

Boulder City’s Richner holds off Green Valley charge
At Del Sol, Boulder City’s Sara Richner held off most of Green Valley’s team to win the 2.4-mile race in 16:34.

The next 13 runners to cross the line were all from the Gators, led by second-place Morgan Oswald in 16:36.

Green Valley was the only school to field a full team.

Hollinger wins at Canyon Springs
At Canyon Springs, Heather Hollinger beat the competition by nearly four minutes to claim first place.

Hollinger finished the 2.8-mile course in 19:48. The next fastest of the four runners in the race finished in 23:38.
