ROUNDUP: Shadow Ridge girls edge Palo Verde

Shadow Ridge’s girls cross country team took two of the top three spots Monday to edge host Palo Verde in a three-team meet.

The Mustangs finished with 27 points, beating Palo Verde (30) and Australia Select (78).

Palo Verde’s Marissa Suan won the 2.7-mile race in 17 minutes, 50 seconds.

Shadow Ridge’s Ciara Jackson was second in 18:16, and teammate Jessica Graff was third in 19:04.

Bulldogs edge Cowboys
At Chaparral, Kaitlyn Frump won a 2.85-mile race in 22:53.9 to lead Virgin Valley to a 25-30 victory over the Cowboys.

Chaparral’s Linda Sue Luchsinger was second in 23:18.7, and Virgin Valley’s Abbie Barnard took third in 24:11.4.

Trailblazers take top five spots, win meet
At Sierra Vista, the Trailblazers took the first five spots to beat Sierra Vista, 15-50.

Durango’s Virginia Salazar-Sandoval placed first in the 2.5-mile race in 17:53, and teammate Amanda Maloney was second in 19:47.

Betemariam, Valley down Canyon Springs
At Canyon Springs, Jerry Betemariam won a 2.8-mile race in 20:40 to help Valley to a 21-36 win over the Pioneers.

Valley’s Kerri Paasche was second in 21:34, five seconds faster than Canyon Springs’ Brooklyn Allison.

Aggies sweep top seven spots
At Spring Valley, Zanae Jones won a 3.1-mile race in 21:10, and Arbor View took the top seven scoring places on its way to a 15-50 win over the Grizzlies.

Karli Miller was second in 21:12, followed closely by teammates Maddie Fletcher (21:14) and Bella Sakai (21:17).

Vazquez, Eldorado roll
At Del Sol, Gaby Vazquez won a 2.5-mile race in 19:16.7 to lead Eldorado (15 points) past the Dragons, who had only four runners finish the race.

Del Sol’s Theresa Marcos took second in 20:00.7, and Eldorado’s Alannah Atherton was third in 20:48.1.

Dort, Cougars easily beat Falcons
At Coronado, Sara Dort won a 2.8-mile race in 18:15.6 to lead the Cougars to a 16-40 victory over Foothill.

Coronado’s Kristen Morrill took second in 18:56.4, and teammate Logan Lucas was third in 19:14.9.

Faith Lutheran cruises past Mojave
At Mojave, Hannah Pavlov won a 3.05-mile race in 21:41 to lift Faith Lutheran to a 15-42 win over the Rattlers.

Faith Lutheran’s Leah Holleran took second in 23:03, and Caitlyn Orne was third in 23:28.

Depth leads Jaguars by Pirates
At Overton, Desert Pines had five of the top six finishers on its way to a 20-39 victory over Moapa Valley.

Moapa Valley’s Kacy Udall won the 3.1-mile race in 23:13.

Desert Pines’ Kenia Lopez was second in 23:42, and teammate Talia Mandujano took third in 25:59.
