FLAG FOOTBALL: Betsy Bellinger, Palo Verde hand Cimarron first loss of season

Betsy Bellinger scored two touchdowns and had two interceptions on defense Wednesday as Palo Verde’s flag football team knocked off previously unbeaten Cimarron-Memorial 46-27 at home in a Northwest League battle.

Bellinger caught a 10-yard touchdown and returned an interception 40 yards for a score for Palo Verde, which trailed 27-20 at halftime but scored 26 unanswered points in the second half.

Mya Boykin ran for two TDs, and Gianni Terrana threw a TD for the Panthers.

Cimarron fell to 10-1.

Foothill 13, Coronado 12 — At Foothill, Madisyn McArthur completed 12 of 23 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 44 yards on five carries as the Falcons held off the Cougars.

Whitley Brow had three catches for 89 yards and two TDs, and Julia Lynch had five catches for 69 yards for Foothill.

Mariah Coleman led the defense with 14 tackles for the Falcons, who led 13-0 at halftime.

Western 20, Sunrise Mountain 12 — At Sunrise Mountain, Fabray Elam rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries to power the Warriors past the Miners.

Daisy Perez added 40 yards on six carries for Western, which led 7-6 at halftime.

Arbor View 19, Legacy 6 — At Arbor View, Melanie Ara had nine carries for 181 yards and a touchdown and three catches for 43 yards and a score to lift the Aggies over the Longhorns.

River Espeleta was 6-for-10 passing for 61 yards and a TD for Arbor View, which led 6-0 at halftime.

Makayla Rucks had five tackles and three interceptions to lead the Aggies defense.

Cheyenne 24, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Eileen Contreras had six carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and the Desert Shields stormed to a 24-0 halftime lead en route to blanking the Jaguars.

Angela Hammond had 12 carries for 182 yards, and E’moni Albert had two catches for 60 yards and a score for Cheyenne.

Green Valley 32, Basic 6 — At Green Valley, Bella Cipili was 9 of 18 passing for 153 yards and three touchdowns, and Deborah Grant had nine carries for 111 yards and a TD as the Gators routed the Wolves.

Hennessy Elkins, Christina Mayberry, Olivia McClain and Aniyah Pinaula all caught touchdown passes, and Jennifer Haberstock was 3 of 4 passing for 48 yards and a TD for Green Valley.

Marissa Owens threw a TD pass to Shemaiah Obard for Basic.

Silverado 28, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Kui’Puha Untalanran for 198 yards and three touchdowns as the Skyhawks blanked the Patriots.

Sydney Lindsey threw a touchdown for the Skyhawks, who led 16-0 at halftime.
