FLAG FOOTBALL: Gibson, Gators edge Rancho in OT

Morgan Gibson threw for 293 yards and five touchdowns Tuesday to help Green Valley’s flag football team edge host Rancho, 41-40 in overtime.

Gibson connected on a 16-yard TD pass to Kayla Anderson in the extra period for the Gators, who took advantage of a missed extra point by Rancho.

Anderson supplied 83 yards receiving, 60 yards rushing and a rushing score for Green Valley, which got two receiving TDs from Adelia Sigala. Jackie Cook and Carolina Velazquez each caught a touchdown pass for Green Valley.

Megan Sloan rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns, and Mayela Calvo, Ayann Kadir and Shelby O’Hanley each ran for a touchdown for the Rams.

Arbor View 28, Palo Verde 14 — At Arbor View, Taylor Howie tossed two touchdown passes to Haley Nibarger and ran for a score to lead the Aggies by the Panthers.

Howie threw for 172 yards and rushed for 64 more for Arbor View. Francesca D’Arienzo rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, and Nibarger made five catches for 100 yards for the Aggies.

Shadow Ridge 41, Durango 21 — At Shadow Ridge, Alexia Murrietta completed 5 of 12 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown to lead the Mustangs past the Trailblazers.

Joryan Brewer rushed for 128 yards and a TD on 10 carries, and teammate Taylor Velarde had 56 yards and two TDs on nine rushes for Shadow Ridge.

Sierra Vista 39, Moapa Valley 6 — At Sierra Vista, Neomi Vazquez tossed two touchdown passes and ran for a score as the Mountain Lions routed the Pirates.

Vazquez threw for 185 yards and ran for 46 yards.

Anye Drummond rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns, and Dreah Gaspar had 112 receiving yards and two scores for Sierra Vista.

Las Vegas 30, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, the Wildcats blanked the Pioneers.

Tea Rivera passed for 60 yards and rushed for 33 yards for Canyon Springs.
