FLAG FOOTBALL: Green Valley converts 2-point conversion to edge Coronado in thriller

Olivia McClain caught a touchdown pass and the 2-point conversion with 20 seconds to play Wednesday to give Green Valley’s flag football team a 28-27 home win over Coronado.
The Cougars scored with less than a minute to play to take a 27-20 lead. But McClain caught a 31-yard TD pass from Bella Cipili, and then caught the 2-point conversion to give the Gators the lead.
Cipili completed 13 of 23 passes for 226 yards and three TDs. McClain had five catches for 78 yards and two TDs, and Deborah Grant rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown and had a TD catch for Green Valley.
Coronado’s Caitlin Shannon completed 26 of 37 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns.
Trinity Rhoades caught 10 passes for 104 yards and a TD, and teammate Jensen Boman had seven catches for 70 yards and two TDs for the Cougars.
Mojave 19, Desert Pines 18 — At Desert Pines, quarterback Marilyn Membreno tossed two touchdown passes, and the Rattlers snuffed out a potential game-tying extra point in the final minute of play to edge the Jaguars.
Anahi Rosales supplied a 20-yard TD reception and a 5-yard scoring run for Mojave, which got a 10-yard TD catch from Cynthia Carbajal-Marquez.
Cimarron-Memorial 35, Legacy 19 — At Cimarron, Tiarra Del Roasario threw for four touchdown passes and rushed for a score as the Spartans took down the Longhorns.
Del Rosario finished with 211 passing yards, 154 of which went to Alyssa Karpinski, who caught two touchdown passes. Morgan Hemphill and Haylei Hughes each caught a touchdown for the Spartans.
Hemphill led the defense with five tackles and two interceptions.
Jaclyn Joule had passed for 159 yards and a touchdown for the Longhorns. Qaylee Baker-Judie had 110 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Longhorns.
Silverado 26, Basic 13 — At Basic, Victoria Bravo rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns as the Skyhawks downed the Wolves.
Kui’Puha Untalan threw two touchdown passes for the Skyhawks. Sydney Lindsey and Kahlia Bell each had a touchdown reception for Silverado.
Palo Verde 33, Shadow Ridge 20 — At Palo Verde, Alyssa Tygh threw for three touchdowns, and Mya Boykin ripped off a 55-yard scoring run as the Panthers beat the Mustangs.
Betsy Bellinger caught an 18-yard TD pass for Palo Verde.
Jordan Ford rushed for 217 yards and a touchdown to lead Shadow Ridge.
Foothill 33, Liberty 6 — At Foothill, Madisyn McArthur threw four touchdown passes, and Whitley Brow had three TD catches to lift the Falcons over the Patriots.
Sydney Babakitis had 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for a touchdown pass for Foothill. Brow finished with 93 yards receiving.
McArthur finished with 265 yards passing on just 12 completions. Three of her touchdown passes went for at least 40 yards.
Cheyenne 50, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, E’Leseana Patterson threw five touchdown passes as the Desert Shields routed the Miners.
Patterson completed 15 of 20 passes for 224 yards. She also had seven carries for 124 yards.
Angela Hammond rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and E’moni Albert caught nine passes for 153 yards and two scores for Cheyenne.
Leerah Hunt also caught two TD passes for the Desert Shields.
Centennial 19, Arbor View 18 — At Centennial, the Bulldogs stopped a 2-point conversion attempt in the final minute to edge the Aggies.
Arbor View’s Makayla Rucks scored a rushing touchdown with 56 seconds left and the Aggies went for the win.
Chasity Clark returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 19-6 halftime lead.
Arbor View’s River Espleta completed 20 of 26 passes for 181 yards and two TDs. Reina Martin had 14 tackles and added nine catches for 80 yards and a touchdown for the Aggies.
