FLAG FOOTBALL: Strong quarterback play sends Foothill past Sierra Vista

Foothill quarterback Madisyn McArthur threw two touchdown passes Tuesday and added two rushing scores to power the Falcons’ girls flag football team by visiting Sierra Vista, 32-25.

Sydney Babakitis caught two TD passes, and Whitley Brow caught one for Foothill, which jumped out to a 25-19 halftime lead.

Brittania Beltran supplied two interceptions, and teammate Mariah Coleman led the Falcons with nine tackles.

Green Valley 33, Palo Verde 29 — At Palo Verde, Deborah Grant had 16 carries for 169 yards and three touchdowns, and Christina Mayberry had five catches for 52 yards and two scores to lead the Gators by the Panthers.

Bella Cipili completed 19 of 30 passes for 200 yards and two TDs, and Hennessy Elkins had seven catches for 78 yards for Green Valley.

Erin Zinke led the defense with 10 tackles for the Gators, who led 19-13 at halftime.

Basic 26, Tech 20 — At Tech, despite three touchdowns from Katy Orellana, the Roadrunners fell to the Wolves in overtime.

Orellana was 7-for-15 for 150 yards and a touchdown. She also rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Avery Rayos caught four of Orellana’s passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.

Virgin Valley 38, Sunrise Mountain 8 — At Sunrise Mountain, Katie Zuniga rushed for two touchdowns, and Madison Cheney caught two more as the Bulldogs took down the Miners.

Jamile Cano had a 40-yard touchdown run for the Miners, who also got a safety.

Coronado 35, Legacy 6 — At Coronado, quarterback Caitlin Shannon completed 7 of 12 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 60 yards and a score as the Cougars routed the Longhorns.

Sydnee Hansen caught three passes for 149 yards and three TDs for Coronado, which also got a 57-yard TD reception from Jensen Boman.

Shawna Slater provided six tackles and an interception for the Cougars.

Malaysia Lee-Montgomery had a rushing TD for Legacy’s lone score.

Shadow Ridge 38, Clark 0 — At Clark, Jordan Ford rushed for 311 yards and three touchdowns as the Mustangs blanked the Chargers.

Shadow Ridge’s Samantha Milanovich rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown and added 125 yards and a TD receiving.
