FLAG FOOTBALL: Twigg throws six TD passes as Grizzlies top Mustangs in shootout

Amberlynn Twigg threw six touchdown passes Thursday to help Spring Valley’s flag football team outlast visiting Shadow Ridge, 39-32.

Jozee DeCunzo caught three of Twigg’s touchdown passes, and teammate Michaela Hood hauled in two TD passes for the Grizzlies, who also got a receiving touchdown from Raven Strid-Pena.

Alexia Murrietta threw for 225 yards and four touchdowns for the Mustangs. Allie Ortega ran for 122 yards on 10 carries and caught four passes for 96 yards for Shadow Ridge. Taylor Velarde caught two touchdown passes, and Briana Vieths caught a TD pass for the Mustangs.

Sierra Vista 12, Palo Verde 6 — At Sierra Vista, Anye Drummond rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown to lead the Mountain Lions past the Panthers.

Neomi Vazquez tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Vladana Lazic for Sierra Vista.

Arbor View 34, Moapa Valley 0 — At Arbor View, Taylor Howie threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns as the Aggies blanked the Pirates.

Frankie D’Arienzo rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for Arbor View, and teammate Chaise Sandoval added a touchdown catch.

Green Valley 20, Desert Pines 6 — At Green Valley, Morgan Gibson threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns to guide the Gators to victory over the Jaguars.

Kaela Green, Jackie Cook, and Kayla Anderson each caught a TD pass for Green Valley.

Mariyah Espinoza rushed for 77 yards and a score on nine carries for Desert Pines.

Canyon Springs 15, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Canyon Springs, Sydney Morris had a touchdown run and intercepted a conversion pass and returned it for two points as the Pioneers topped the Miners.

Tea Rivera threw a touchdown pass to Taraneka Carroll for Canyon Springs.

Alexus Aragon passed for 66 yards and a touchdown for Sunrise Mountain.

Cheyenne 13, Durango 12 — At Durango, the Desert Shields nipped the Trailblazers in overtime.

Amanada Maloney rushed for 125 yards, threw for 75 yards and caught a touchdown pass for Durango, which also got a receiving touchdown from Meleesamaree Areizaga.
