Roundup: Green Valley fends off Foothill in Southeast battle

Isabel Madrid returned an interception for a touchdown as Green Valley’s flag football held off visiting Foothill 18-13 in a Southeast League game on Wednesday afternoon.

Sydney Babakitis and Whitley Brow each caught a touchdown for Foothill, and quarterback Madisyn McArthur finished 15-for-25 passing for 156 yards.

Basic 22, Liberty 12 — At Liberty, Marissa Owens completed 11 of 23 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolves past the Patriots.

Hailey Wray and Skilar Hopkins each caught a touchdown, and Dre’Yahna Carter ran for a score for Basic, which led 15-6 at halftime.

Coronado 30, Silverado 6 — At Silverado, Caitlin Shannon completed 27 of 35 passes for 201 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 47 yards to lead the Cougars to a dominating victory over the Skyhawks.

Erin Shannon and Sydnee Hansen each caught two touchdown passes, and Taylor Burton had the other touchdown catch for Coronado, which led 18-0 at halftime.

Giovanna Coelho led the defense with five tackles.

Palo Verde 18, Centennial 6 — At Palo Verde, Alyssa Tygh tossed three touchdown passes to help the Panthers defeat the Bulldogs.

Grace Cashin had a 34-yard TD catch, Betsy Bellinger supplied a 22-yard TD reception, and Mya Boykin added a 3-yard receiving TD for Palo Verde.

Shadow Ridge 33, Legacy 14 — At Legacy, Jordan Ford had 18 rushes for 185 yards and three touchdowns as the Mustangs downed the Longhorns.

Angelina Esqueda had a rushing touchdown, and teammate Deleinee Paialii added a TD catch for Shadow Ridge, which led 6-0 at halftime.

Sunrise Mountain 38, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Hope Humes had touchdown runs of 10, 55, 40, 5 and 60 yards to power the Miners to a rout of the Jaguars.

Lynn Rodgers added a 20-yard touchdown pass to Adareasheia Pinsly for Sunrise Mountain, which led 26-0 at halftime.

Mojave 18, Western 14 — At Mojave, Elena Salazar had a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown and caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Sophie Barton as the Rattlers took down the Warriors.

Barton added a 5-yard scoring run for Mojave.

Samaiya Hall led Western with 155 yards rushing on 23 carries. Koloa Makaafi threw a touchdown and ran for a score, and Yareth Medina caught a touchdown for the Warriors.
