Canyon Springs Capsule Preview

Coach: Cheryl Dameron, fourth year.

2007 record: 3-8 (3-4 Northeast).

Top players: Rebecca Breland (So.), Joy Jones (Jr.).

Outlook: Breland returns after a fantastic freshman year that put her on the high school tennis radar. Breland was undefeated in singles in division play and advanced to the regional semifinals.

Jones was a regional quarterfinalist last season and gives the Pioneers a bona-fide top two.

Dameron also has some young players who are showing early promise and giving Canyon Springs hope to have a stronger showing this season.

Coronado set a state record with its score of 11-under at the Class 5A girls golf state championship. In tennis, Palo Verde swept the boys and girls 5A championships.
