The junior running back rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-10 victory over Boulder City. The win improved Sunrise Mountain to 4-2 on the season. The Miners had never won more than two games in a season before this year.

Coronado

The senior midfielder had three goals and an assist to help the Cougars to a 6-1 win over Foothill in the Southeast League opener. Kornieck added five goals and an assist in a 9-0 victory over Basic.

Hayley Huntsman

Bonanza

The senior setter had a total of 21 kills, 45 assists, four aces and 28 digs in victories over Desert Oasis and Centennial. Huntsman had nine kills, 25 assists and 17 digs in the 3-2 victory over Centennial.

ADELSON SCHOOL — Boys cross country runner Cutty Zanghi won the "B" race at the UNLV Invitational at Craig Ranch Park, finishing the 3.1-mile race in 18 minutes, 0.9 seconds.

ARBOR VIEW — Girls cross country runner Rachel Jackson posted a personal record of 20 minutes, 30.7 seconds for 3 miles at the Woodbridbge (Calif.) Invitational. Boys cross country runner Tim Myers had a personal record of 16:16.3 at the Woodbridge Invitational.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Girls volleyball player Logan DeLong had 10 kills in a 3-2 victory over Desert Oasis. Boys soccer player Arturo Bahena had a total of six goals in victories over Desert Oasis and Legacy.

CORONADO — Boys cross country runner Xavier Cummins placed 17th at the Huntington Beach (Calif.) Invitational with a time of 16 minutes, 18 seconds for 3 miles.

DESERT OASIS — Girls golfer Caroline Graham shot 8-over-par 38 at Eagle Crest, leading the Diamondbacks to a third-place finish in a Northwest league match. Boys tennis players Carl Yu and Clarenz Velasco went 3-0 in doubles in a 13-5 victory over Bonanza.

FOOTHILL — Girls volleyball player Kiley McCall had a total of 61 assists, 16 digs, four aces and six blocks in wins over Basic and Green Valley.

GREEN VALLEY — Boys soccer player Ricardo Nunez moved from defense to forward this season, and scored the winning goal in a pair of 2-1 victories. Nunez had a goal and an assist in a victory over Rancho and both goals in a win over Foothill. Girls soccer player Alexis Kirson scored all five goals in a 5-2 win over Rancho, and had two goals in a 4-1 victory over Foothill.

LAS VEGAS — Football player Zacharry Loveland had four tackles, broke up a pass and returned an interception for a touchdown in a 43-0 win over Coronado.

MOJAVE — Girls cross country runner Tamara Frezzell cut 1 minute, 12 seconds off her best time for 3.1-miles, placing 10th at the UNLV Invitational at Craig Ranch Park with a time of 21:26.1.

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Football player Terrence Brooks had six catches for 131 yards and a touchdown against Agassi Prep. Girls golfer Kristine Horita had three consecutive pars on the back 9 to shoot 26-over-par 98 in a Division I-A Sunrise League match at The Canyons.

PALO VERDE — Girls volleyball player Virginia Rallo had 20 digs against Shadow Ridge.

RANCHO — Boys soccer player Joshua Mireku scored a goal in a 4-0 victory over Boulder City.

SANDY VALLEY — Girls volleyball player Hayley Perez served 12 straight points in the first set and seven consecutive in the second set as the Sidewinders rallied to win both in a 3-2 victory over Liberty Baptist.

Coronado girls down Gorman for 5A volleyball region title

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
