The freshman pitcher threw complete games to lead the Mountain Lions to a 1-0 win over Shadow Ridge and a 2-1 victory over Spring Valley. Watkins allowed three hits and struck out nine against Shadow Ridge and yielded four hits with six strikeouts against Spring Valley.

The sophomore was 7-for-10 with two homers and eight RBIs in four games and struck out 21 in two pitching victories.

The sophomore pitcher threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out eight, in a 10-0 win over Chaparral.

ARBOR VIEW — Softball player Ashlyn Ames was 6-for-12 with five extra-base hits, seven RBIs and a 1.50 ERA in 14 innings in three games. Baseball player Jayce Gardner was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs in a 10-0 win over Cheyenne.

BONANZA — Boys track athlete Jacob Perez won the 110- and 300-meter hurdle races at the Sunset Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships.

BOULDER CITY — Boys thrower Sam Gomez won the discus and was fourth in the shot put in the Sunrise Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships.

CENTENNIAL — Boys golfer Matthew Palmer shot 6-over-par 42 in a dual-meet win over Cimarron-Memorial. Softball player Savannah Horvath went 2-for-2 with a homer in an 18-3 win over Desert Oasis.

CLARK — Girls track athlete Shyanne Carter-Wade threw a personal best 90 feet, 5 inches in the discus at Desert Pines.

DESERT OASIS — Girls track athlete Angelique Gaeta won the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs in a meet with Legacy. Baseball player Zach Rickard was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in a win over Centennial, and threw a scoreless inning in a victory over Sierra Vista.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Baseball player Dakota Greenawalt was 5-for-11 with two home runs and seven RBIs over three games.

GREEN VALLEY — Boys track athlete Lenny Rubi won the 800- and 1,600-meter runs at the Sunrise Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships, leading the Gators to the team title.

RANCHO — Boys track athlete Lorenzo Johnson won the 800-meter run in a meet at Canyon Springs. Girls track athlete Chyrese Patterson won the 400-meter dash at the Richard Lewis Invitational.

SIERRA VISTA — Boys golfer George Kim shot 78 in a Northwest League match.

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
