The junior outfielder hit a game-winning home run in a 3-2 victory over Desert Oasis. Jackson also pitched two innings to get the save in the game, and opened the season 6-for-16 with six RBIs.

The junior was 3-for-5 with two two-run home runs and pitched seven innings allowing no earned runs in a 12-3 victory over Basic.

The senior won three events at the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran. Alexander swept the hurdle events, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.74. He also tied for first in the 200 with a time of 22.81.

The junior set two meet records at the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran. Cunningham cleared 6 feet, 2 inches in the high jump, and posted a mark of 17-8 in the long jump.

CANYON SPRINGS — Softball pitcher Lizet Rodarte earned victories over Clark, Chaparral and Desert Pines.

CENTENNIAL — Baseball player Jordon Wyke threw a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Legacy. Softball player Angel Love was 5-for-7 with three home runs and seven RBIs in wins over Legacy and Basic.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Baseball player Noah Parker was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the week and pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts to earn a save.

DESERT OASIS — Girls track athlete Tawny Rodriguez placed first in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 4 inches at the Liberty Relays. Baseball player A.J. Landis threw a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over Shadow Ridge.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Baseball player Cruz Daddario went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA in two starts and drove in five runs at the plate. Softball player Makena Martin went 5-1 with 33 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings and hit .680 with four doubles and 10 RBIs in eight games.

GREEN VALLEY — Baseball player Blake Inouye improved his average to .481 and hasn’t allowed an earned run in 12 1/3 innings.

LIBERTY — Softball player Breanna Alvarez allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Desert Edge (Ariz.). Baseball pitcher Bailey Daguio threw a complete game, allowing no earned runs and no walks while striking out nine in a 7-2 win over Green Valley.

PALO VERDE — Baseball player Trevor Jackson went 6-for-16 with six RBIs to open the season, including the game-winning home run in a 3-2 victory over Desert Oasis. Softball player Mackenzie McBride went 13-for-26 with eight runs, 11 RBIs, six doubles, two triples and a home run to help the Panthers to a 7-2 record.

SHADOW RIDGE — Girls swimmer Caroline Brereton posted regional qualifying times in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke against Durango. Baseball player Nick Parr threw a complete game, allowing one earned run, in a 3-2 loss to Cimarron-Memorial.

SIERRA VISTA — Girls swimmer Taylor Saxon won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 7.55 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:41.66 in a 194-92 win over Spring Valley. Boys swimmer Mason Archer won the 100 backstroke in 57.13 and the 100 freestyle in 52.84 in a 168-69 win over Spring Valley.

Coronado girls down Gorman for 5A volleyball region title

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
