The junior hit .471 with 14 RBIs and threw a one-hitter to help the Bulldogs to the Centennial Championship in the Blazer Spring Bash.

The senior pitcher allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings as Basic defeated Chatsworth (Calif.) 5-2 to win the Steven Janvrin Championship at the Blazer Spring Bash. Chatsworth had beaten Basic 6-1 earlier in the tournament, giving the Wolves their only loss this season.

Palo Verde

The junior pitcher earned four wins during the Spring Jamboree at Majestic Park, helping the Panthers to the Silver Bracket title. Lupinetti struck out 21 in 21 innings.

Kalei Watkins

Sierra Vista

The junior pitcher led the Mountain Lions to a 5-1 record at the Crusader Invitational. She went 9-for-16 with seven RBIs, and was 3-1 with a 0.60 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 23 innings, including a perfect game.

ARBOR VIEW — Girls track athlete Madison Aldred posted the state’s fastest time in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 56.61 seconds in a meet at Bishop Gorman. Baseball pitcher Chris Villarias threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 victory over Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.).

CORONADO — Baseball player Noah Hemphill improved his season average to .459 with three doubles and three triples.

DESERT OASIS — Boys golfer Isaiah Fierro shot 10-over-par 82 to place sixth in a Northwest League meet at Paiute. Girls track athlete Madelyn Doerr set a school record of 5 minutes, 19.5 seconds in the 1,600-meter run and won the 800 in 2:28.2 at the Newcomers Meet.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Baseball player Zack Trageton hit .600 with two doubles, two triples and eight RBIs and went 2-0 with a 1.56 ERA and 16 strikeouts in nine innings at the Blazer Spring Bash.

GREEN VALLEY — Baseball player Matt Gilbertson threw a one-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in a 4-0 victory over Granite Hills (Calif.).

LEGACY — Baseball player Austin Michaels hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs, in a 16-6 win over Del Sol.

MOJAVE — Boys track athlete Nick Kline set a school record in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet, 9 inches in a meet at Sunrise Mountain.

PALO VERDE — Baseball player Blake Porter hit a seventh-inning grand slam to help the Panthers rally for an 8-4 win over Carson (Calif.).

SIERRA VISTA — Boys swimmer Mason Archer set a school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.81 seconds.

SILVERADO — Boys track athlete Matthew Arnold placed first in the high jump (6 feet, 5 inches), first in the triple jump (47-4½) and second in the long jump (21-3¾) at the Liberty Invitational.

SPRING VALLEY — Boys swimmer Ahmed Mohamed swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay in 23.52 seconds, helping the Grizzlies place first in a meet with Legacy.

Coronado girls down Gorman for 5A volleyball region title

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
