The senior quarterback matched the state record with nine touchdown passes in a 62-12 home win over Del Sol. Newman completed 19 of 22 passes for 496 yards and had TD passes to six receivers.

The senior wide receiver had 10 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-27 road win over Basic.

Conor Perkins

Green Valley

The senior receiver/kicker booted a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Gators a 39-38 home win over Las Vegas. Perkins also had a 38-yard field goal and caught six passes for 84 yards and a TD.

Javion Hunt

Sierra Vista

The sophomore cornerback had three interceptions, a fumble recovery and three tackles in a 35-12 win over Durango.

Cimarron-Memorial

The junior had two first-half goals in a 3-1 road win over Bishop Gorman.

The senior went undefeated in the Division I-A Southern Region team tournament, leading the Chargers to the team title.

The senior was 3-0 in singles to help the Cougars to an 11-7 win over Green Valley for the Sunrise Region team title.

ARBOR VIEW — Girls cross country runner Zanae Jones placed third at the Lake Mead Invitational, running 3.1 miles in 19 minutes, 52 seconds, to lead the Aggies to the team title. Boys cross country runner Cole Jones placed second in a time of 16:54 at the Lake Mead Invitational.

CENTENNIAL — Girls golfer Kianna Arizmendi shot 96 at the Sunset Region tournament to qualify for state. Boys tennis player Raul Saucedo advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sunset Region individual tournament.

CHAPARRAL — Girls cross country runner Linda Sue Luchsinger placed first in a meet with Tech. Boys soccer player Alex Robledo had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Boulder City.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Football quarterback Derek Morefield completed 11 of 16 passes for 226 yards and five TDs in a 34-21 win over Desert Oasis.

CLARK — Girls tennis player Abbey Escala was undefeated in doubles in matches with The Meadows and Faith Lutheran.

DESERT OASIS — Girls volleyball setter Ariel Blockovich had four aces, three kills and a dig in a win over Cimarron-Memorial. Boys cross country runner Frankie Martinez finished first in a meet at Cimarron-Memorial and was fifth at the Lake Mead Invitational.

ELDORADO — Boys soccer player Chris Perez had five goals and two assists in a 9-0 win over Del Sol.

GREEN VALLEY — Girls soccer player Kayla Anderson had a goal and two assists in a 10-1 win over Canyon Springs.

THE MEADOWS — Girls volleyball player Brooke Brennan had a total of 11 kills, 26 digs and three service aces in two matches with Calvary Chapel.

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Football running back Jacob Duldulao had 12 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown against White Pine.

NEEDLES — Football player Derek Wagstaff rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns, returned a punt 85 yards for a score and had five tackles in a 38-6 win over Lincoln County.

PALO VERDE — Girls volleyball setter Stephanie Herman had a total of 73 assists, 13 digs, three kills and two blocks in wins over Shadow Ridge and Sierra Vista. Football player Graeson Vereen returned two interceptions for touchdowns and had seven tackles in a 42-14 win over Shadow Ridge.

SIERRA VISTA — Girls cross country runner Skye Battoon finished sixth in a meet against Spring Valley, covering the 2.5-mile course in 22 minutes, 5 seconds.

Coronado girls down Gorman for 5A volleyball region title

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
