The junior guard had 30 points and 17 rebounds in an 80-47 victory over Spring Valley, and added 25 points including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer in a 67-64 win over Rancho.

Ejanae Coopwood, Cheyenne

The senior scored 21 points in a 54-37 victory over Desert Pines and had a game-high 18 points in a 56-27 victory over Western to help the Desert Shields take over first place in the Class 3A Sunset League.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Katy Orellana, Tech

The senior quarterback completed 15 of 24 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 190 yards and three scores last week in wins over Del Sol and Boulder City.

WRESTLING

Arath Rangel, Centennial

The 285-pound senior was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the higher weight divisions at the Bulldog Grappler at Centennial. He won the championship by pinning his opponent at the 1:21 mark.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

ARBOR VIEW — Boys bowler Austin Garrett rolled a 637 series, including a 235 game, in a 9-0 victory over Cimarron-Memorial.

BONANZA — Flag football player Bree Hernandez-Silva rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 79 yards and a touchdown in a 20-0 win over Clark. Hernandez-Silva surpassed 10,000 all-purpose yards for her career.

CENTENNIAL — Flag football player Taylor Aquino intercepted a pass in the end zone with about 30 seconds to play to secure a 19-14 road victory over Arbor View.

CHAPARRAL — Boys basketball player Jonathan Tendale had 28 points against Moapa Valley and 24 points against Virgin Valley.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Girls basketball player Niara Smith had a total of 43 points in two games. Boys basketball player Kieron Hatchett had 19 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists in a victory over Arbor View.

CORONADO — Boys basketball player Kennedy Koehler averaged 27.7 points and 11.3 rebounds in victories over Silverado, Basic, and Cathedral Catholic (California).

FAITH LUTHERAN — Girls basketball player Bryanna Neagle averaged 16 points and 16.5 rebounds in wins over Cimarron-Memorial and Palo Verde. Boys basketball player Elijah Kothe averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists in wins over Shadow Ridge and Cimarron-Memorial.

GREEN VALLEY — Girls basketball player Brooke Haney hit seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points against Liberty.

MOJAVE — Girls bowler Maria Richardson had a 551 series, including a season-high game of 202 in a 9-0 win over Desert Pines.

PAHRUMP VALLEY — Girls basketball player Jill Smith had 10 points and five rebounds in a 31-26 win over Mojave.

SIERRA VISTA — Girls basketball player Shania Harper had a total of 36 points and 32 rebounds in two games.

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
