Lincoln County Capsule Preview

Coach: Rich Ottley (10th year)

2007 record: 5-4 (2-2 Southern League)

Returning starters: Five offense, four defense

Returning letterwinners: 18

Top players: LT/DT Cody Burgess (Sr.), QB Eric Rippetoe (Jr.), RB Trent Tibbitts (Sr.)

Top newcomers: WR Logan Reifsnyder (Sr.), OL Jake Burgess (Jr.)

Key losses: RB Dutch Barclay

Base offensive set: Multiple

Base defensive set: 4-3

Outlook: The Lynx could boast one of the best offensive lines in Class 2A, bolstered by 6-foot-7, 270-pound left tackle Cody Burgess. The senior already has an offer from Southern Utah and is being recruited by a handful of

Football Bowl Subdivision programs, Ottley said.

"Sometimes it's hard for Cody because he's going to draw every cut block and double team," Ottley said. "That opens it up for other players, so as a team it helps us a lot."

At 6-5, Rippetoe will stand tall in the pocket and is a "real strong-armed kid" who started as a sophomore last season, Ottley said.

Despite the loss of Barclay, who is now playing at NAIA Southern Virginia, Ottley said the Lynx should see a "pretty even mix" of run and pass on offense.
