Outlook: Defense is the name of the game for the Pirates in their 12th year under Messer. After graduating three seniors who played a sizable amount last season, the Pirates will have six seniors on the court and four juniors who, Messer says, will play a lot. Described as one of the best squads to come through Moapa Valley in the last five years, hosting the Division 3A tournament will help, but a general lack of hitters could put a kink in the Pirates hopes for a trip to Reno.
