Washington’s TD gives Cowboys win over Basic

Isaiah Washington rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner from 25 yards out in the fourth quarter, as the Chaparral (1-2) beat visiting Basic (2-1) 35-28 on Friday.
Trailing 28-21 entering the fourth quarter, the Cowboys tied the game on Bre Onte Griffin’s 9-yard keeper.
After a Wolves fumble, Washington appeared to be bottled up but reversed field and ran 25 yards for the winning score.
Chaparral’s defense stiffened in the second half, allowing 81 yards after giving up 219 in the first.
Pierre Jones finished with 85 yards on 14 carries for the Cowboys.
Basic opened the game by driving 75 yards, capped by a 32-yard scoring strike from Robby Faiman to Jeff Pozdol.
Chaparral answered with a 65-yard drive. Griffin sneaked it in from 2 yards out to tie the score 7-7.
Faiman finished 13-for-22 for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 41 yards and a touchdown.
