White Pine Capsule Preview

Coach: Tom Sattler (first year)

2007 record: 0-8 (0-4 Southern League)

Returning starters: Four offense, four defense

Top players: QB Michael Johnson (Jr.), RB Tyler Watts (So.), LB William Dominguez (Sr.), LB Matt Searle (Sr.), LB Rusty Lewis (Jr.)

Top newcomers: OL Clay Mauro (Fr.), WR Brendan Noble (So.), WR Levi Valdez (Fr.)

Key losses: RB Jack Harris

Base offensive set: I-Backs

Base defensive set: 4-2

Outlook: With only four seniors and 19 freshmen on its roster, White Pine will be one of the youngest teams in Class 2A.

Sattler has 36 players to work with, though, and should have a strong and experienced group of linebackers in particular.

The Bobcats went scoreless in three consecutive games in the middle of last season, and with three road games in a row to open this season, will have to improve on offense quickly if they are to make a run at the postseason.
