BASEBALL: Amelburu scores on error to give Gators win over Panthers

A.J. Amelburu scored the winning run on a throwing error with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday to lift Green Valley’s baseball team to a 3-2 home win over Palo Verde.
Amelburu, who finished 2-for-3, hit his second double of the game to lead off the bottom of the seventh. After a pop out, the Panthers walked Jarrett Perns to put runners at first and second.
Gavin Morley followed with a hard single to left. Amelburu stopped at third when the left fielder got to the ball quickly, but the throw into the infield got away from the cutoff man, allowing Amelburu to score.
Morley was 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the first inning for the Gators, who scored the tying run on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Dom Orlando was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and J.D. Brooks and Yodai Nakamura each went 2-for-3 for Palo Verde.
Boulder City 14, Foothill 9 — At Foothill, the bottom three spots in the Eagles’ order combined for seven hits and nine RBIs in a win over the Falcons.
Austin Wishard was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Steve Wagner went 2-for-5 with a run and three RBIs, and Seth Kermode was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs for Boulder City, which broke a 6-6 tie with a six-run sixth inning.
Spencer Throgmorton, Anthony Pannullo and Andrew Hauck each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Foothill.
Desert Oasis 10, Canyon View (Utah) 0 — At Desert Oasis, Cade Adams tossed athree-hitter with four strikeouts and the Diamondbacks did all of their scoring in the first inning of a five-inning win over the Falcons.
Caeden Marin was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and teammate Nolan Kingham was 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis. Gage Ventura added two RBIs for the Diamondbacks.
Desert Oasis 9, Rancho 4 — At Desert Oasis, Bryson Stott’s two-run triple sparked a six-run sixth inning that pushed the Diamondbacks by the Rams.
Rancho scored once in the fifth to pull ahead 4-3 before Stott’s triple gave Desert Oasis the lead for good.
Brett Brocoff was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Marin went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Rancho’s Angel Walker was 3-for-4 with a three-run triple, and Cristian Munoz went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rams.
Clark 14, Desert Pines 8 — At Clark, winning pitcher Macun Sotelo went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and the Chargers used an eight-run sixth inning to rally past the Jaguars.
Jason Erlan was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Jeff Ebel went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Clark, which trailed 5-1 after three innings. Guy Tannebaum was 2-for-4 with a double for Clark.
The Meadows 8, Williams (Ariz.) 6 — At Needles, Calif., Andrew Martinez had three hits and an RBI, and the Mustangs scored four runs in the top of the fifth to edge the Vikings in five innings in the Route 66 Tournament.
Adam Martinez added two hits and two RBIs for The Meadows.
Lee Williams (Ariz.) 12, The Meadows 0 — At Needles, Calif., Nate Cottrell tossed a five-inning four-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Volunteers by the Mustangs in the Route 66 Tournament.
Mountain View 8, Monument Valley (Ariz.) 7 — At Needles, Calif., Matthew Tom scored the winning run on a passed ball in the top of the fourth inning as the Saints edged the Mustangs in four innings in the Route 66 Tournament.
Tom, who was 1-for-1 with two runs, walked to lead off the fourth and stole second and third before the passed ball allowed him to score.
Braeden Carmack was 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs, and winning pitcher Ian Locke went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs for Mountain View.
Pahrump Valley 10, River Valley (Ariz.) 5 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Shelton Cajudoy went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Trojans by the Dust Devils in five innings in the Route 66 Tournament.
Case Murphy was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Pahrump, which scored four runs in the third and five in the fourth.
Pahranagat Valley 12, Beaver Dam 2 — At Alamo, Asher Haworth and Caleb Hansen each had three hits to lead the Panthers by the Diamondbacks in the Pahranagat Valley Invitational.
Wade Leavitt and Paden Higbee each had two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley.
Round Mountain 9-18, Carlin 2-8 — At Round Mountain, the Knights swept the Railroaders.
