BASEBALL: Baca, Spartans outslug visiting Skyhawks

Tyler Baca went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs on Friday to help host Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team outslug Silverado, 17-14.

Jeff Griffith was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Larry Quaney, Todd Danzeisen, Blake Robins and Noah Given each had two hits and two RBIs for the Spartans, who used a seven-run third inning and nine-run fifth to grab the lead.

Dillon Johnson was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs for the Skyhawks. Michael Camburn was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Chase Cortez was 3-for-5 with a triple for Silverado.

Bishop Gorman 13, Liberty 10 — At Liberty, Beau Capanna went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and four RBIs, and the Gaels scored nine runs in the top of the first inning before outlasting the Patriots.

Matt Hudgins was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Grant Robbins went 4-for-5 with two doubles for Gorman. Blake Sanchez and Austin Cram each went 3-for-5 with a double for the Gaels.

Justin Lutes was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Nick Woolery went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Liberty.

Faith Lutheran 9, Mojave 5 — At Faith Lutheran, Cruz Daddario was 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and three RBIs as the Crusaders topped the Rattlers.

Zach Trageton tripled and singled, and Jake Koentopp and Chad Jones added two hits apiece for Faith Lutheran, which led 7-0 after five innings.

Legacy 7, Las Vegas 5 — At Las Vegas, Daniel Zaragoza was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Longhorns held off the Wildcats.

Alex Tadd was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Legacy, which took a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Hector Perez was 2-for-3 for Las Vegas.

Eldorado 11, Valley 10 — At Eldorado, Trevor Swain scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Sundevils outlasted the Vikings.

Jordan Eldred was 3-for-4 with a double, and Luigi Lucero went 2-for-4 for Eldorado, which trailed 7-5 after four inning but carried a 10-8 lead into the seventh.

Bonanza 10, Boulder City 4 — At Boulder City, Hunter Junge went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and the Bengals used an eight-run third inning to top the Eagles.

Casey Ladeira was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Jay DeSoto went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Bonanza. Levi Klump was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Bengals.

Nolan Desantis and Preston Van Diest each went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Zach Murphy was 2-for-3 for Boulder City.

Pahrump Valley 10, Cheyenne 3 — At Pahrump, Josh Mortensen scattered eight hits and went 2-for-2 with three runs to help the Trojans top the Desert Shields.

Tyler Greene was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Drew Walker went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Pahrump, which trailed 3-1 in the third inning before scoring the final nine runs of the game.

George Carmona was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Cheyenne.

Rancho 14, Durango 2 — At Durango, Anthony Guzman and Kavion Kealoha both homered in the first inning as the Rams downed the Trailblazers in five innings.

Kealoha was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs, and Zach Barnhart went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Rancho.

Jaeger McDowell tossed a three-hitter for the Rams, who got two hits apiece from Edarian Williams, Angel Walker and Guzman.

Andrew Ayala was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Durango.

Spring Valley 20, Clark 3 — At Clark, Nick Rupp was 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs, and the Grizzlies scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a five-inning victory over the Chargers.

Jaxson Otis was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Alex Gomez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Sierra Vista 7, Western 0 — At Sierra Vista, the Mountain Lions won by forfeit.

The Meadows 2-14, Lincoln County 13-7 — At The Meadows, Nabeel Afzal went 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs in the nightcap to help the Mustangs earn a split with the Lynx.

Andrew Martinez was 4-for-5 with three runs, and Jacob Gleason went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the second game for The Meadows.

Nick Vincent and Derek Shumway combined on a five-inning three-hitter in the opener to lead Lincoln County to the win.

Shumway was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and McClain O’Connor went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in the first game for the Lynx. O’Connor was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the finale.

Mountain View 14-5, Laughlin 0-1 — At Laughlin, Chase Ottofy struck out 14 in a five-inning no-hitter in the opener and 12 in five innings in a combined no-hitter in the nightcap as the Saints swept the Cougars.

Ian Locke struck out six in two hitless innings of relief for Mountain View in the second game.

Pahranagat Valley 3-5, Indian Springs 0-3 — At Alamo, Christian Higbee tossed a two-hitter and struck out 11 in the opener as the Panthers swept the Thunderbirds.

Higbee also went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in the opener, and teammate Tabor Maxwell was 1-for-2 with a double and a run for Pahranagat Valley.

Maxwell allowed just one hit and went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI in the nightcap, which was called in the fourth inning due to rain.

Devon Sickler was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the second game for Indian Springs.

Tonopah 11-22, Spring Mountain 1-1 — At Tonopah, the Muckers swept the Golden Eagles.

Round Mountain 17-17, Beatty 1-5 — At Round Mountain, the Knights rolled to a sweep of the Hornets.
