BASEBALL: Bonanza uses offensive explosion to down Cimarron

Matthew Cox went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs, and Jay DeSoto was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to power Bonanza’s baseball team to a 17-8 nonleague victory over visiting Cimarron-Memorial on Tuesday.

Torren Brozovich was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs, Luis Lares singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice, and Nick DeSoto went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs for Bonanza, which overcame an 8-6 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Bengals then tacked on six runs in the fifth.

Jackson Folkman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Cimarron.

Centennial 16, Shadow Ridge 5 — At Centennial, Kyle Horton went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs, and Austin Kryszczuk homered twice to lead the Bulldogs past the Mustangs in five innings.

Jake Rogers was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Kian Wilbur drove in two runs for Centennial, which scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to go ahead 10-2.

Dylan Baker had two RBIs, and Justin Lee was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored to lead Shadow Ridge.

Arbor View 23, Legacy 8 — At Legacy, Joe Fitzhugh was 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, and Ryan Lystlund went 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs in the Aggies’ six-inning win over the Longhorns.

Talon LeBaron was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Jesse Pierce finished 3-for-5, with a triple and two RBIs for Arbor View. Trey Urban was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored as the Aggies banged out 25 hits.

Jacob Crawford was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, and Noah Lomeli drove in two runs for Legacy.

Palo Verde 17, Faith Lutheran 6 — At Faith Lutheran, J.D. Brooks was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and the Panthers plated 10 runs in the fifth inning to rout the Crusaders.

Jacob Godman was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, and teammates Ryan Merino and Jaxon Hammond each drove in two runs for Palo Verde.

Paulshawn Pasqualotto homered, and Lucas Dockery was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead Faith Lutheran.

Liam Bredin also drove in two runs for the Crusaders.

Durango 13, Clark 4 — At Clark, Richard Mascarenas went 3-for-5 with two doubles, and Josh Barry supplied two hits and three RBIs as the Trailblazers topped the Chargers.

Steven Giatti went 2-for-4, and Renae Lara and Jason Salazar each hit a double for Durango, which put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Winning pitcher Jacob Suitor combined with Matt Agresta on a three-hitter.

Spring Valley 24, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Kade Higgins and Jack Sellinger each went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, and the Grizzlies routed the Mountain Lions in three innings.

Bryce Bullock was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs, and Nick Rupp finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Spring Valley.

Chase Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Braxton Bruschke also homered for the Grizzlies, who scored 16 runs in the first inning.

Matthew Vanderberg was 1-for-2 with an RBI to lead Sierra Vista.

Boulder City 19, Tech 14 — At Tech, Jacob Hubel went 3-for-4 with two doubles and seven RBIs, and Kodey Rahr drove in three runs as the Eagles outslugged the Roadrunners.

Rhett Armstrong was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored, and D.J. Reese was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Preston Van Diest added a two-run single as part of the Eagles’ seven-run second inning.

Jayce Otis was 3-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs, and Sean Jones went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs to lead Tech.

Desert Pines 10, Western 0 — At Desert Pines, Steven Laureano tossed a two-hit shutout and supplied two hits and two RBIs at the plate as the Jaguars blanked the Warriors in five innings.

Juan Castaneda was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs, and teammate Salvador Becerra added two hits for Desert Pines, which scored seven runs in the second inning.

Tyler Matthews and Robert Forston-Smith each singled for Western.

Mojave 17, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Elijah Glaze was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two stolen bases, and the Rattlers scored 15 runs in the first inning to rout the Desert Shields.

Mike Cianci earned the win with four strikeouts and added two hits, two walks and two runs for Mojave. Kevin Gutierrez finished 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs for the Rattlers.

Christopher Rose had two hits to pace Cheyenne.

Beaver Dam (Ariz.) 24-10, Mountain View 7-25 — At Mountain View, Julien Prieto went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the nightcap to help the Saints earn a doubleheader split with the Diamondbacks.

Tyrell Brooks drove in three runs for Mountain View, which erupted for 19 runs in the bottom of the second.

Michael Leach was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jacob Allen was 2-for-3 to lead Beaver Dam.

In the opening game, Leach had four RBIs, and the Diamondbacks took advantage of 10 errors by Mountain View.

Jose Avila added a double for Beaver Dam, which scored 13 runs in the first inning and 10 more in the third.

The Meadows 12, Lake Mead 9 — At Lake Mead, Adam Martinez was 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs and two RBIs to lead the Mustangs over the Eagles.

Sam Kaplan went 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs and pitched three scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn a save for The Meadows.

Joseph Johnson was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to pace Lake Mead.

Calvary Chapel 7, Sandy Valley 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Lions won by forfeit.
