BASEBALL: Bulldogs blank Panthers on combined one-hitter

Three pitchers combined on a one-hitter Friday as Centennial’s baseball team held on for a 3-0 victory over visiting Palo Verde.

Anthony Saccente, Kyle Horton and Jordon Wyke combined on the one-hitter. Saccente and Horton each threw three scoreless innings, with Horton striking out seven.

Travis Stevens was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial. Horton and Jake Portaro each went 2-for-3 with a run for the Bulldogs.

Silverado 5, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Justin DeLeon and Kevin Pindel combined on a four-hitter as the Skyhawks downed the Grizzlies.

DeLeon allowed two hits and struck out three in five innings to get the win. Chase Cortez was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs, and Vincent Taormina was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Silverado.

Dillon Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Skyhawks.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Liberty 4 — At Liberty, Adam Mitchell went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and the Spartans made the most of five hits to top the Patriots.

Niko Decolati was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Cimarron.

Liberty’s Preston Pavlica was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Brandon Soratos was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for the Patriots.

Tech 10, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Burkholder Park, Trevor Kephart pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Roadrunners past the Miners in five innings.

Chandler Gehring was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including an inside-the-park, three-run home run.

Kephart went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, and teammate Sebastian Fitzgerald was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run for Tech, which scored eight runs in the third inning.

Chaparral 11, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Tyler Crone threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk as the Cowboys topped the Jaguars.

Eric Villareal went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Connor Jarvis was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Chaparral. Brandon Scott added two hits and three runs for the Cowboys, who scored five runs in the seventh.

Arbor View 11, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Sam Pastrone went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and the Aggies used an eight-run sixth to down the Rams in six innings.

Brandon Stevens was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Arbor View, which had only six hits.

Jake Rucker, Jayce Gardner, Shawn Martin and Cody Ferguson combined on a five-hitter for the Aggies.

Faith Lutheran 10, Bonanza 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Zach Trageton threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead the Crusaders past the Bengals in six innings.

Trageton also went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Joshua Harmonay was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Cruz Daddario and Brandon Davis each drove in three runs for Faith Lutheran.

Andre Isaraq singled in the first inning for Bonanza’s lone hit.

Bishop Gorman 10, Snow Canyon (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Matt Mitchell tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight as the Gaels downed the Warriors.

Brandon Wulff went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Beau Capanna was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Gorman, which used a five-run sixth inning to pull away.

Desert Oasis 12, Valley 1 — At Valley, Caeden Marin was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs to help the Diamondbacks to a five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Bryson Stott was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs, and Nolan Kingham went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs for Desert Oasis.

Winning pitcher Chris Van Kuren threw a one-hitter, allowing an unearned run. He struck out seven with no walks.

Coronado 12, Durango 0 — At Durango, Sterling Saltz went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run to help the Cougars down the Trailblazers.

Noah Hemphill was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Nate Ruiz was 2-for-5 with a run for Coronado, which scored six runs in the fifth and three in the seventh.

Donte Glover allowed three hits over five innings to get the win.

Eldorado 6, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Jordan Eldred tossed a four-hitter and struck out four to lead the Sundevils by the Rattlers.

Jason DeMaria was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Trevor Swain went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Eldorado. Eldred was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Chris Clawson was 1-for-2 with a double for Mojave.

Boulder City 12, Del Sol 2 — At Boulder City, Peyton Koopman went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run to help the Eagles to a five-inning win over the Dragons.

Zach Murphy went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Steve Wagner was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Boulder City.

Austin Shepard went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and teammate Seth Kermode had two RBIs for the Eagles.

Phil Talamo was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Del Sol.

Moapa Valley 17, Virgin Valley 2 — At Overton, Anthony Cornwall had a double, a triple and four RBIs to help the Pirates rout the Bulldogs in five innings.

Riley Longman and Bo Redd each doubled for Moapa Valley, which scored eight runs in the second inning.

Lincoln County 9-7, Needles 2-2 — At Needles, Calif., Paul Boag’s grounder to second plated pinch runner Allen Toledo with the go-ahead run and sparked a five-run seventh inning in the nightcap of the Lynx’s sweep of the Mustangs.

Lincoln County scored twice in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2 before erupting for five in the seventh. McClain O’Connor had an RBI triple, and Preston Robbins had a run-scoring double in the seventh for the Lynx.

Robbins was 2-for-3 in the finale for Lincoln County. Derek Shumway tossed a three-hitter and struck out five for the Lynx.

In the opener, Christian Florence went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Boag drove in three runs. O’Connor allowed four hits and struck out eight for Lincoln County.

The Meadows 23-11, Laughlin 0-1 — At Laughlin, Andrew Martinez went 4-for-4 with a double, four runs and four RBIs in the opener and 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept a pair of five-inning games from the Cougars.

In the first game, Jacob Gleason was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Alex Agrawal went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for The Meadows. Agrawal also struck out 12 in four innings for the Mustangs.

In the finale, Agrawal was 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Adam Martinez was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for The Meadows.

Lake Mead 15, Agassi Prep 14 — At Heritage Park, Zack Brocker scored the winning run on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Eagles by the Stars.

Brocker was hit by a pitch, moved to second on Mark Costolo’s sacrifice and to third when Julien Korastinsky was tagged out at the plate trying to score on a passed ball.

Jakob Bryan went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs for the Eagles, who tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cole Holden was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Costolo went 3-for-3 for Lake Mead.

Mihith Narasinghe was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Agassi Prep.

Indian Springs 14-20, Sandy Valley 4-19 — At Indian Springs, Devon Sickler’s two-run single tied the game, and he scored the winning run on a wild pitch as the Thunderbirds rallied for seven runs in the seventh inning to complete a doubleheader sweep of the Sidewinders.

The Thunderbirds scored five runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Sickler went 3-for-5 with a double, and Austin Thomas was 4-for-5 with a double for Indian Springs.

Lane Eastham went 3-for-5 with two doubles to lead the Sidewinders, and teammate Logan Shelton went 2-for-5 with a double.

In the first game, Nino Alvarez allowed four runs on three hits and struck out nine to lead the Thunderbirds. Alvarez also went 3-for-3 with a double.

Austin Thomas went 2-for-3 with a double, and Julian Peete was 2-for-3 for the Thunderbirds,

Eastham went 2-for-3 with a double for Sandy Valley.

Pahranagat Valley 24-16, Beaver Dam 2-1 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Jordan Cryts went 5-for-7 with two homers, eight RBIs and five runs to lead the Panthers to the doubleheader sweep.

Cryts was 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and four RBIs in the opener, and 2-for-3 with a grand slam in the nightcap.

Christian Higbee threw four scoreless innings in the opener, allowing two hits and striking out seven, to get the win.

Tabor Maxwell allowed one hit over four innings with nine strikeouts in the second game.
