BASEBALL: Burdett’s 10 strikeouts power Mountain Lions by Rattlers

Cade Burdett struck out 10 in a five-hitter to lead Sierra Vista’s baseball team to a 3-1 home win over Mojave on Thursday.

Burdett also helped his own cause with a RBI. Jhared Gonzalez and Chandler Smith each drove in a run for the Mountain Lions.

Liam Harris and Brady Allen each doubled for Mojave. Chris Clawson drove in the Rattlers’ only run.

Shadow Ridge 11, Rancho 6 — At Shadow Ridge, Jake Wilson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs to power the Mustangs by the Rams.

Eric Jordan, Trevin Reynolds and Kyle Gaura each had a double for Shadow Ridge, which scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 11-5 lead.

Zach Barnhart was 3-for-4 for Rancho, and teammate Anthony Guzman had two RBIs.

Palo Verde 7, Foothill 1 — At Palo Verde, Collin Thomason allowed an unearned run on four hits in six innings with six strikeouts as the Panthers downed the Falcons.

Jerron Largusa was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and Will Hamilton added a two-run triple for Palo Verde.

Sam Powers and Daniel Heller each had two hits for the Panthers.

Kaelii Maruyama supplied an RBI single for Foothill.

Green Valley 7, Durango 3 — At Durango, A.J. Amelburu went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs to lead the Gators over the Trailblazers.

Jarod Penniman was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and teammate Gavin Morley went 2-for-4 with a run for Green Valley.

Christian Straub allowed three unearned runs on two hits in six innings to get the win. Straub struck out nine and walked three.

Pahrump Valley 5, Clark 2 — At Clark, Josh Mortensen was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs and pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save as the Trojans beat the Chargers.

Shelton Cajudoy was 2-for-4 with a double for Pahrump.

Winning pitcher Eduardo Gonzalez allowed six hits in six innings with three strikeouts.

Coronado 7, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Nicco Festa was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Cougars top the Longhorns.

Sterling Saltz was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Anthony Olheiser went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Coronado.

Donta Williams was 2-for-3 with a double for Legacy.

Cimarron-Memorial 11, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Adam Mitchell was 2-for-2 with a double, a homer, two RBIs and two runs to help the Spartans to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Todd Danzeisen allowed an unearned run on one hit in four innings to get the win. He struck out seven with no walks.

Tyler Giovinco struck out the side in the fifth for Cimarron.

Giovinco and Luis Flores each had a double and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Spring Valley 16, Cheyenne 0 — At Spring Valley, Bryce Bullock threw a two-hitter and drove in two runs to help the Grizzlies to the five-inning win.

Bullock struck out five with no walks.

Jake Sellinger went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI, and Jaxton Otis was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Spring Valley, which scored seven runs in the first.

Carter Lambeth had three RBIs for the Grizzlies.

Faith Lutheran 20, Western 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Jake Koentopp had two hits, four runs and an RBI as the Crusaders rolled to a five-inning win over the Warriors.

Koentopp, Joshua Harmonay, Chad Jones and Kanoa Flynn each had a double for Faith Lutheran, which scored 14 runs in the third inning.

Moapa Valley 11, Virgin Valley 4 — At Mesquite, Chaz Cornwall was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Pirates topped the Bulldogs.

J.R. Redd went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Bo Redd drove in three runs for Moapa Valley.

Virgin Valley’s Cade Anderson had two doubles.

Mountain View 11, Lake Mead 8 — At Mountain View, Josh Stanton had a triple, a single, two walks and two RBIs to help guide the Saints to a win over the Eagles.

Chase Ottofy supplied a triple and a single, and winning pitcher Braeden Carmack added two hits for Mountain View, which used a seven-run fifth to pull away.

Zack Brocker had two hits for Lake Mead.

The Meadows 18, Calvary Chapel 5 — At Mountain View, Andrew Martinez and Nafeel Abzal each had two hits and two RBIs as the Mustangs routed the Lions in three innings in the Spring Slam.

Drake Gordon added two hits, and Adam Martinez had two RBIs for The Meadows, which scored 14 runs in the third inning.

The Meadows 11, Indian Springs 0 — At Mountain View, Drake Gordon tossed a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Mustangs by the Thunderbirds in the Spring Slam.

Gordon struck out 11 and walked one. He also had two hits and two RBIs for The Meadows.

Andrew Martinez had two hits and two RBIs, and Alexander Agrawal added two hits for the Mustangs.

Adelson School 31, Spring Mountain 21 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Ethan Finkelstein earned the win and was 3-for-4 with four RBIs as the Lions outslugged the Golden Eagles in five innings.

Brandon Papas went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs, and Aaron Schwartz and Jack Anderson each added three hits for Adelson, which scored 11 runs in the fifth to pull away.

Steve Jones finished 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, and Angel Medina had two hits, four runs and an RBI for Spring Mountain.
