BASEBALL: Cook, Centennial stay in playoff hunt by beating Diamondbacks

Brady Cook went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs Monday to help Centennial’s baseball team keep its postseason hopes alive with a 9-7 home win over Desert Oasis.

Winning pitcher Cooper Powell went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Will Loucks was 3-for-3 with a run for the Bulldogs, who are tied with Desert Oasis for fourth place in the Southwest League with one game left. Desert Oasis hosts Legacy, and Centennial visits Bishop Gorman on Wednesday.

Jordyn Compehos went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Bryson Stott went 3-for-3 with three runs for the Diamondbacks.

Bonanza 6, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, Travis Ming was 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three runs and three RBIs to power the Bengals by the Longhorns.

Daniel Romero was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two runs for Bonanza.

Kain White was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Legacy. 

Foothill 12, Basic 5 — At Foothill, Bligh Madris went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs to lead the Falcons by the Wolves.

A.J. Mortel was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Ryan Moyes was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for Foothill.

Ryan Blatnik was 2-for-3, and Skyler Mahoney went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs for Basic.

Spring Valley 15, Green Valley 10 — At Spring Valley, Logan Mace was 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Michael Macove went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Grizzlies outlasted the Gators.

Brian Bierlein was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Cody Milner went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Jarrett Perns was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Green Valley.

Liberty 12, Del Sol 2 — At Liberty, Chris Bradford went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Patriots to a six-inning win over the Dragons.

Griffin Kelly was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Joe Maurer went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Moapa Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Overton, Josh Repp tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk to lead the Pirates by the Miners.

Chad Jones went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Moapa Valley.

Sunrise Mountain’s Frankie Apodaca spun a three-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk.

Coronado 14, Eldorado 7 — At Eldorado, Tyler Brown was 3-for-5 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs as the Cougars outslugged the Sundevils.

Julian Burrola was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Mike Maiello went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Coronado.

Trey Bayliss was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs for Eldorado.

Boulder City 6, Tech 3 — At Boulder City, Tino Ragone went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Eagles down the Roadrunners.

Tanner Howell was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Eagles starter Peyton Koopman allowed just one run on one hit in six innings.

Chaparral 13, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Tommy Crone and Chad Clark combined on a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Cowboys by the Bulldogs.

Crone struck out seven in three innings en route to his seventh win of the season.

Eduardo Jimenez was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Mark Nick O’Connor went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Cheyenne 9, Desert Pines 1 — At Cheyenne, Orestes Marquetti went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to help the Desert Shields down the Jaguars.

Lamon Harvey had a double and scored a run for Cheyenne.
