BASEBALL: Cougars pounce Mountain Lions on the road

Caden Spilsbury was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Coronado’s baseball team to a 12-2 road win over Sierra Vista on Friday.

Nicco Festa went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and three RBIs for the Cougars, and teammate Sterling Saltz was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Adam Garcia tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts for the Cougars to earn the win.

Tech 11, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Silver Bowl Park, Chandler Gehring went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and four RBIs to help the Roadrunners to a five-inning win over the Miners.

Elias Peinado and Jayce Otis each went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Bryan Casas was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI for Tech.

Sebastian Fitzgerald pitched a three-hitter and struck out six for the Roadrunners.

Pahrump Valley 7, Chaparral 6 — At Chaparral, Chad Uyeno was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs and earned a save to lift the Trojans by the Cowboys.

Carlos Rivera was 2-for-4 with two doubles, and teammate Josh Mortensen went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Pahrump, which rallied from an early 3-0 deficit. A.J. Segura added three singles for the Trojans.

Luis Giro and Tyler Crone each had a double for Chaparral.

Desert Pines 7, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Andres Corbett tossed a two-hitter, striking out five and walking three, to lead the Jaguars by the Bulldogs.

David Olivares was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Vasifauna Hansell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Desert Pines.

Legacy 15, Spring Valley 5 — At Spring Valley, Austin Michals went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and seven RBIs, and the Longhorns rallied to beat the Grizzlies with 11 runs in the seventh inning.

Daniel Zaragoza went 3-for-4 to help Legacy, which benefited from eight walks and a three-run double by Michals in the seventh.

Boulder City 9, Moapa Valley 5 — At Overton, Peyton Koopman was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run to lead the Eagles over the Pirates.

Will Knudsen went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Austin Wishard drove in two runs for Boulder City, which scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 7-5 lead.

Mario Castanon went the distance, allowing no earned runs on seven hits, to get the win.

Chad Jones went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Moapa Valley.

Arbor View 10, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Jayce Gardner was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs as the Aggies downed the Desert Shields in five innings.

Ben Cutting, Michael Ralls and Quinn Gallagher combined on a five-hitter, and Justin Rivera had an RBI triple for Arbor View.

Korey Poole had two hits for Cheyenne.

Lincoln County 13-20, Lake Mead 1-0 — At River Mountain Park, McClain O’Connor and Preston Robbins combined on a one-hitter in the nightcap as the Lynx swept a pair of five-inning games from the Eagles.

Paul Boag, Christian Florence and O’Connor each had two hits and an RBI in the first game for Lincoln County.

In the second game, O’Connor went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Robbins was 2-for-3 with four RBIs for the Lynx. Florence, Colton Johnson, Derek Shumway and Kevin Mathews added two hits apiece for Lincoln County.

Lake Mead’s Julien Korastinsky had two hits and an RBI in the first game.

Beatty 15-14, Spring Mountain 4-6 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Jacob Zamora was the winning pitcher in both games and had two hits in each game as the Hornets swept the Golden Eagles.

Luis Flores had two hits in each game for Beatty.

Indian Springs 5-10, Round Mountain 0-6 — At Indian Springs, Alfonso Santangelo went 2-for-4 with a home run to lead the Thunderbirds past the Knights in the opener.

Troy Heath went 2-for-3 for Indian Springs, and teammate Nino Alvarez scattered six hits in seven innings to earn the victory.

In the second game, Mason Hamlin went 2-for-3 with a home run, and the Thunderbirds held off a late rally to beat the Knights.

Devon Sickler had two doubles to help Indian Springs, and teammates Daniel Highfield and Levi Maloy added two hits apiece.

Jerry Sanders singled twice for Round Mountain, which scored three runs in the seventh inning.
