BASEBALL: Delgado, Wildcats blank Falcons

Diego Delgado threw a three-hit shutout Friday as Las Vegas High’s baseball team defeated visiting Foothill, 6-0.

Delgado, who also doubled, struck out four with one walk.

Hector Delgado went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Wildcats at the plate, and teammate Ryan Freimuth went 2-for-2.

Bishop Gorman 2, Vauxhall (Canada) 1 — At UNLV, Jack Little tossed a six-hitter and struck out 15 to help the Gaels nip the Jets in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Nick Hernandez’s RBI single in the fifth inning plated Jordan Sadovia with the go-ahead run for Gorman.

Sadovia and Myles Denson each had two hits for Gorman.

Eldorado 3, Valley 0 — At Eldorado, Isaac Villanueva fired a three-hitter as the Sundevils blanked the Vikings.

Villaneuva struck out nine and walked one. He also doubled for Eldorado.

Ian Reber was 2-for-3, and his two-run double highlighted a three-run third inning for the Sundevils.

Coronado 4, Silverado 2 — At Coronado, Kyle Hall allowed two runs on six hits to lead the Cougars over the Skyhawks.

Anthony Carro was 2-for-3 for Coronado. He had an RBI double in the second inning and also scored a run.

Dax Fellows went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Silverado.

Del Sol 7, Moapa Valley 5 — At Del Sol, Dylan Aguirre went 3-for-3 with a two-run single in the third inning to lead the Dragons over the Pirates.

Jason Rolland added a double and two RBIs for Del Sol. Jorge Costa went the distance, striking out eight, to get the win.

Daxton Longman and Bo Redd each hit a double for Moapa Valley.

Chaparral 9, Sunrise Mountain 4 — At Chaparral, Mark O’Connor and Eddie Lopez each drove in two runs to lead the Cowboys past the Miners.

O’Connor and Talon Greene each had a double for Chaparral.

Erick Villareal struck out eight over five innings to pick up the win. He hit four batters. Eddie Lopez fanned three over the final two innings.

Brian Ruiz went 4-for-5 to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Liberty 11, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Michael Wong and Jacob Klein combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Patriots routed the Pioneers.

Wong struck out four over four innings, and Klein fanned two in the fifth inning to complete the no-hitter.

Kevin Clark was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs for Liberty.

Justin Lutes went 1-for-1 with a triple and two RBIs, Klein was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI, and Daniel Gonzalez went 3-for-4.

Tech 15, Desert Pines 4 — At Tech, Chandler Gehring went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and three runs as the Roadrunners routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Gabe Kermode went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and teammate Alexis Acosta was 2-for-3 with a double a run and an RBI for Tech.

Jalen Birch was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, and Logan Campbell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for the Roadrunners.

Campbell pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts to earn the win.

Boulder City 12, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Preston Van Diest fired a one-hitter and the Eagles topped the Bulldogs in five innings.

Van Diest struck out eight with one walk. He took a no-hitter into the fifth, but Jayden Perkins singled to lead off the inning.

Perkins later scored on a wild pitch.

Nolan Desantis was 2-for-3 with four runs, and Austin Wishard went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI to lead Boulder City.

Peyton Koopman was 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs for the Eagles.

Needles 15-12, The Meadows 5-9 — At The Meadows, Dylan Hetrick went 5-for-7 with a double and eight RBIs to lead Needles to the doubleheader sweep.

Trenton Poe Evans was 6-for-8 with two doubles and six RBIs in the two games, and also picked up the win in the second game.

Lincoln County vs. Agassi Prep — At Agassi Prep, the host Stars forfeited a doubleheader to the Lynx.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
