BASEBALL: Dillon Darrow, Needles edge Laughlin in 2A tournament

Needles’ Dillon Darrow got a groundout with runners at the corners in the bottom of the seventh as the Mustangs edged Laughlin 7-6 in the Class 2A Southern League tournament at Mountain View on Thursday.
Darrow struck out two in the seventh to secure the save.
Dylan Hetrick was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Darrow doubled for Needles, which scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie.
Lincoln County earned a 17-2 win over The Meadows in the other game on Thursday.
Laughlin (17-8) plays The Meadows (13-10) in an elimination game at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Needles (16-7) plays Lincoln County (20-3) at 1 p.m., with the loser of that game facing the winner of the Laughlin-The Meadows game at 4 p.m.
Class 1A
Stockton Maxwell had four hits and four RBIs, and Pahranagat Valley scored nine runs in the third inning en route to a 16-5 win over Tonopah in the Class 1A Southern League tournament at Indian Springs.
Carter Robinson and Dutson Stewart each added three RBIs for the Panthers.
The host Thunderbirds routed Beatty 21-1 in the other game Thursday.
Pahranagat Valley (17-9) faces Indian Springs (22-2) at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Tonopah (13-8-1) plays Beatty (7-8) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m., with the winner of that game playing the loser of the Pahranagat Valley-Indian Springs game at 6 p.m.
