BASEBALL: Gaels hang on to beat Cimarron

Zach Grech got Derek Decolati to line into a double play with the potential tying runs on base in the top of the seventh inning to preserve Bishop Gorman’s 3-2 home win over Cimarron-Memorial on Thursday.

The Gaels led 3-1 in the seventh, but the Spartans had runners at the corners with one out when Decolati lined out to left fielder Braxton Wehrle. Noah Parker tagged and scored from third for Cimarron, but Chandler DeLeon was doubled off at first base after Parker crossed the plate.

Marques Paige and Jorel Hingada each had an RBI double during Gorman’s three-run fifth inning.

Grech went the distance, allowing seven hits, to get the win.

Parker was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Cimarron.

Pahrump Valley 4, Mojave 3 — At Pahrump, Willie Lucas’ RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Trojans past the Rattlers.

The Trojans plated three runs in the inning to win the game. Cole Walker drew a bases-loaded walk and Garret Lucas singled to tie the game before Willie Lucas drove in the game winner.

Willie Lucas and Shelton Cajudoy each doubled for the Trojans.

Garret Lucas struck out seven over seven innings to pick up the win.

Rease McClain doubled for the Rattlers.

Centennial 4, Durango 0 — At Centennial, Jake Rogers tossed a two-hitter and struck out three without allowing a walk to lead the Bulldogs by the Trailblazers.

Hayden Grant went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Kyle Horton was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Centennial, which took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Durango’s Colin Marracco allowed three earned runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out five.

Bonanza 9, Palo Verde 2 — At Bonanza, Danny Ruiz tossed a four-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts to help the Bengals top the Panthers.

Jay DeSoto went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Eric Schultz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for Bonanza, which led 4-2 before scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Cobi Fiechtner was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Palo Verde.

Desert Oasis 13, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Josh Sharman allowed one hit in four innings to help the Diamondbacks to the five-inning victory over the Longhorns.

Sharman took a no-hitter into the fifth, but yielded a single before being lifted. He struck out two with no walks.

Bryson Stott was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Brett Brocoff went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Desert Oasis offense.

Kyle Fuentes went 2-for-2 with three runs, and Cole Schaefer and Gage Ventura each went 2-for-2 for the Diamondbacks.

Faith Lutheran 12, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Jason Eary was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs to help the Crusaders defeat the Desert Shields.

Robby Schwartz was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Kanoa Flynn allowed a run on two hits in four innings to get the win. He struck out five with no walks.

Spring Valley 19, Western 0 — At Western, Bryce Bullock fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks as the Grizzlies routed the Warriors in five innings.

Bullock also went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs for Spring Valley, which scored 12 runs in the top of the first.

Dominick Souder went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Grizzlies, and teammate Jack Sellinger was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Shayne Watkins went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Spring Valley.

Sierra Vista 10, Clark 0 — At Sierra Vista, Jhared Gonzalez scattered seven hits, and the Mountain Lions scored six runs in the sixth to pull away from the Chargers.

DaVion Hollis had two hits and two RBIs, and Hunter Wood and Brett Carroll each drove in three runs for Sierra Vista.

Beatty 13, Adelson School 11 — At Oxford Park, Nikolas Zamora and Matthew Reetz each went 4-for-5 with a double as the Hornets outslugged the Lions.

Daniel Jacob was 3-for-4 with a double for Beatty, which scored two runs in the top of the seventh to break an 11-11 tie.

Sammy Katz was 3-for-4 with a double for Adelson School.
