BASEBALL: Gorman rallies past Palo Verde in eight innings

Daniel Edson’s single to right field with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday plated Grant Robbins with the winning run as Bishop Gorman’s baseball team rallied past visiting Palo Verde, 6-5.
Robbins singled to center to start the inning and moved to third base on Blake Sanchez’s one-out single for the Gaels, who trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the seventh.
The Gaels tied the game on a bases-loaded hit batsman and Matt Hudgins’ two-out, two-run single in the seventh.
Sanchez was 3-for-4, and Hudgins went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Gorman.
Mitchell Rathbun was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Jerron Largusa was 2-for-4 for the Panthers.
Boulder City 6, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Peyton Koopman and Zach Murphy combined on a three-hitter as the Eagles secured the Sunrise League title by blanking the Cowboys.
Koopman was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Murphy went 1-for-4 with a double and a run for Boulder City, which scored four runs in the top of the first inning.
Moapa Valley 7, Tech 5 — At Overton, Chaz Cornwall went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs as the Pirates rallied from a 5-0 third-inning deficit to top the Roadrunners.
Anthony Cornwall was 1-3 with a two-run double, and J.R. Redd and T.C. Twelker each went 2-for-3 for Moapa Valley. Koby Frei tossed four innings of hitless relief to earn the win.
David Gulasarian doubled and drove in a run for Tech.
Las Vegas 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas, Brandon Culmo tossed a six-inning two-hitter to lead the Wildcats by the Pioneers.
Jaime Solis was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two runs. Julio Seperich was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Noah Ponce was 2-for-4 for Las Vegas.
Shadow Ridge 11, Durango 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Eric Jordan went 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs and an RBI as the Mustangs topped the Trailblazers in five innings.
Robbie Galvan was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Tyler Burton went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Shadow Ridge.
Cody Juneman tossed a four-hitter for the Mustangs, allowing only an unearned run.
Bonanza 18, Legacy 5 — At Bonanza, Chris Dunn was 2-for-3 with a grand slam, a triple, three runs and six RBIs as the Bengals routed the Longhorns.
Levi Klump was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Micah Higa went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for Bonanza, which scored 10 runs in the first inning and eight runs in the fourth. Hunter Junge was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Matthew Montano was 1-for-2 with three RBIs for Bonanza.
Hayden LeCates had three doubles, and Austin Michals singled twice for Bonanza.
Del Sol 13, Desert Pines 0 — At Del Sol, Matt Styck tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out nine as the Dragons routed the Jaguars.
Jason Rolland was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, and Zach Trujillo was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Del Sol.
Virgin Valley 17, Sunrise Mountain 7 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Bulldogs downed the Miners.
