BASEBALL: Horton’s two-run homer sparks Bulldogs by Palo Verde

Kyle Horton’s two-run homer in the sixth gave Centennial’s baseball team the lead as the Bulldogs rallied from a 6-0 deficit to earn a 14-8 road win over Palo Verde on Wednesday.

Horton went 2-for-4 with two runs, and his two-run homer in the sixth broke a 7-7 tie. Frank Sessa was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run for Centennial, which trailed 6-0 after three innings before scoring three runs in each of the next three innings to take the lead.

Garrett Holden was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Bulldogs. Hayden Rosenkrantz and Jordan Crawford each added two hits for Centennial.

Palo Verde’s Dylan Orlando was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, a run and two RBIs. Sam Powers went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Ryan Merino was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Panthers.

Eldorado 2, Canyon Springs 1 — At Eldorado, Isaac Villanueva singled home Jordan Eldred in the bottom of the sixth as the Sundevils edged the Pioneers.

Eldred threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts, and his run in the sixth broke a 1-1 tie.

Canyon Springs pitcher Zack Gardner allowed four hits in six innings with nine strikeouts.

Coronado 9, Green Valley 7 — At Coronado, the Cougars used a nine-run fifth to overcome a 5-0 deficit and down the Gators.

Noah Hemphill was 3-for-4 for Coronado. Landen Rowland and Jeffrey Ewing each supplied two hits, a run and an RBI for the Cougars.

Green Valley’s Gavin Morley went 3-for-4, and Jimmy Montiel doubled twice for the Gators.

Basic 5, Foothill 0 — At Foothill, Ryne Nelson and Trent Bixby combined on a two-hitter as the Wolves blanked the Falcons.

Nelson struck out seven in five innings to get the win. Bixby went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and teammate Jack Wold supplied a double, two RBIs and a run.

Liberty 9, Las Vegas 4 — At Las Vegas, Omar Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs to help the Patriots down the Wildcats.

Micahel Wong was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and teammate Ryan Meservey was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Liberty.

Antonio Gaxiola was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Las Vegas.

Chaparral 8, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Connor Jarvis went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Talon Greene was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs as the Cowboys defeated the Dragons.

Mark O’Connor tossed a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts and hit a triple, and Robert O’Connor supplied a double for Chaparral.

Tech 11, Virgin Valley 5 — At Mesquite, Gabe Kermode threw four scoreless innings of relief to get the win and lead the Roadrunners past the Bulldogs.

David Gulasarian went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Chandler Gehring was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs for Tech.

Moapa Valley 10, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Sunrise Mountain, Drake Staheli went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs, and the Pirates scored four runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Miners.

Anthony Cornwall was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Bo Redd was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run for Moapa Valley.

Silverado 11, Valley 0 — At Silverado, Michael Camburn went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Skyhawks routed the Vikings in five innings.

Kevin Pindel, Chandler Whitehead and Ryan Pappas combined on a two-hitter for Silverado.

Boulder City 11, Desert Pines 1 — At Boulder City, Austin Wishard went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Nolan Desantis was 2-for-2 with a home run and three runs as the Eagles downed the Jaguars in five innings.

Kodey Rahr was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Peyton Koopman went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Boulder City.

Silverio Milian and Steven Laureano each went 2-for-3 for Desert Pines.

Adelson School 7, Agassi Prep 0 — The Lions defeated the Stars by forfeit.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
