BASEBALL: Jackson’s home runs lifts Palo Verde by Diamondbacks

Trevor Jackson hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to help Palo Verde’s baseball team rally for a 5-3 win at Desert Oasis on Wednesday.

Jackson was 2-for-2 and threw two innings of relief to get a save for the Panthers, who trailed 3-2 after three innings.

Sam Powers was 2-for-3 for Palo Verde, and teammates J.D. Brooks and Mitchell Rathbun each had a double.

Kyle Fuentes went 2-for-4 for Desert Oasis, and Dominic Paratore had a double and a run for the Diamondbacks.

Green Valley 4, Silverado 2 — At Silverado, the Gators scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie en route to the win over the Skyhawks.

Blake Inouye doubled home Gavin Morley with the go-ahead run, and Green Valley added runs on an RBI single by Drake Maningo and a sacrifice bunt by Eric Samson.

Silverado threatened in the seventh, scoring a run when Kevin Pindel was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. But reliever Frankie Fitzgerald got Dillon Johnson to ground out to first to end the game.

Jarod Penniman, Morley, Inouye and Jimmy Montiel each had two hits for Green Valley.

Jordan Thomson and Alex Grafiada each had two singles for the Skyhawks.

Chaparral 1, Mojave 0 — At Chaparral, Brandon Scott scored from third on a double steal attempt in the bottom of the third inning for the game’s only run as the Cowboys edged the Rattlers.

Mark O’Connor tossed five shutout innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win for Chaparral. Eric Villareal threw the final two innings to get a save.

Ryan Lawrence and Chase Anderson each doubled for Mojave, which outhit Chaparral 5-3.

Spring Valley 10, Legacy 2 — At Spring Valley, winning pitcher Nick Rupp went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI as the Grizzlies beat the Longhorns.

Rupp allowed one earned run on four hits in five innings. He struck out nine.

Shayne Watkins was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Jake Sellinger was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Carter Lambeth drove in two runs, and teammate Dominick Souder was 2-for-3 for the Grizzlies.

Coronado 6, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, the Cougars scored three runs in the top of the first on a dropped fly ball with the bases loaded and went on to down the Bengals.

Jacen Yergensen was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Donte Glover supplied a double for Coronado.

Winning pitcher Adam Garcia fanned 11 in six innings.

Liberty 6, Foothill 0 — At Liberty, Justin Lutes was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and three pitchers combined on a two-hitter as the Patriots topped the Falcons.

Zack Reed allowed one hit in five innings with six strikeouts to get the win.

Preston Pavlica added an RBI sacrifice fly and three stolen bases for Liberty.

Eldorado 5, Canyon Springs 3 — At Canyon Springs, Trevor Swain went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs to lead the Sundevils over the Pioneers.

Joseph Torres went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Eldorado, which scored three runs in the top of the first and never trailed.

Isaac Villanueva went the distance, scattering six hits, to get the win.

Gio Benuto and Sebastion Sotello each had two hits for Canyon Springs.

Basic 12, Valley 0 — At Valley, winning pitcher Josh McLean had two hits and two RBIs to power the Wolves to a five-inning win over the Vikings.

Ryne Nelson and Roger Riley each supplied two hits and two runs for Basic.

Jacob Cruz doubled for Valley.

Sierra Vista 6, Boulder City 2 — At Boulder City, Dylan White’s three-run double in the sixth inning gave the Mountain Lions the win over the Eagles.

Lincoln County 2, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, McClain O’Connor went 2-for-4 with a double, and Preston Robbins and Mike Wood each had two hits and scored a run as the Lynx blanked the Pirates.

Derek Shumway fired a three-hitter with four strikeouts, and the Lynx turned three double plays.

Chaz Cornwall had two hits for Moapa Valley.
