BASEBALL: Johnson helps Skyhawks rally past Pioneers

Dillon Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Silverado’s baseball team rallied for an 8-4 victory over host Canyon Springs on Tuesday.

Jordan Thomson added a double for Silverado, which scored twice in the top of the fifth and added two more in the sixth to erase a 4-3 deficit.

Skyhawks pitcher Nick Kawano tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits.

Zack Gardner was 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Alex Molina supplied a double for Canyon Springs.

Green Valley 21, Las Vegas 4 — At Las Vegas High, Keaton Smith was 3-for-3 with two triples and three RBIs, and Troy Cropper provided two doubles and four RBIs as the Gators routed the Wildcats in five innings.

Jarod Penniman and Keola Paragas each supplied two hits and two RBIs for Green Valley, which used an eight-run third inning to pull away.

Tynoa Shigemoto had two hits and an RBI, and Hector Perez added a two-run single for Las Vegas.

Rancho 34, Valley 0 — At Rancho, Andrew Wieger went 3-for-4 with two home runs and eight RBIs, and David Modler tripled twice as the Rams routed the Vikings in five innings.

Dylan Pletsch doubled and tripled, and Cody Suarez doubled twice for Rancho, which also got a double each from Jose Verdugo and Juan Cruz. Richie Coughlin pitched four innings for the win, combining with Suarez on the one-hit shutout.

Sierra Vista 8, Durango 7 — At Sierra Vista, the Mountain Lions scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to edge the Trailblazers despite two home runs from Anthony Parry.

Nolan Kingham went 2-for-4, Bailey Welter went 2-for-3 and Cole Crosby doubled for Sierra Vista, which overcame a 6-2 deficit.

Kingham pitched six innings for the victory, and Matthew Cox earned the save with a scoreless seventh.

Parry also doubled, and Jacob Skipper homered for Durango.

Arbor View 12, Spring Valley 7 — At Arbor View, the Aggies scored eight runs in the sixth inning to rally past the Grizzlies.

Kevin Johns had a double and a triple, and Joe Fitzhugh had a double and three RBIs for Arbor View. Jayce Gardner and Max Jungblut each provided two hits and an RBI for Arbor View.

Brady Borden tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Aggies to earn the win.

Taylor Robison and Alex Gomez each had two hits to lead Spring Valley.

Shadow Ridge 7, Palo Verde 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Jake Wilson tossed a two-hitter and struck out five to lead the Mustangs by the Panthers.

Jordan Hand was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and Francisco Robles went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Tyler Day went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs for Palo Verde.

Bishop Gorman 12, Snow Canyon (Utah) 5 — At Gorman, Brandon Wulff went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs as the Gaels topped the Warriors.

Beau Capanna was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Cole Krzmarzick was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Gorman, which also got a home run from Drew Newson.

Tyler Wardell and Brady Sargent homered for Snow Canyon.

Sunrise Mountain 16, Pahranagat Valley 12 — At Sunrise Mountain, Angel Chavez went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, and the Miners rallied from a 10-0 hole to beat the Panthers.

Sisco Solis-Escojeda broke a 12-12 tie with a run-scoring double, and Josh Brown added a two-run single as Sunrise Mountain scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Brown went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Trey Smith finished 3-for-4 with a double for the Miners.

Jordan Cryts went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Wade Leavitt went 3-for-5 with a triple for Pahranagat Valley. Teammate Christian Higbee added two doubles.

Boulder City 16, Virgin Valley 1 — At Boulder City, Peyton Koopman was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and the Eagles scored eight unearned runs in the first inning on their way to a five-inning rout of the Bulldogs.

Colton Bosnos was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Tayler Wold went 2-for-2 with four RBIs for Boulder City. Zach Murphy was 2-for-3 for the Eagles.

Cody Faught was 2-for-3 for Virgin Valley.

Moapa Valley 13, Desert Pines 3 — At Overton, the Pirates defeated the Jaguars in five innings.

Agassi Prep 13, Lake Mead 2 — At Lake Mead, Robert Blake and Brandon Lewis each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and the Stars scored 10 runs in the first on the way to a five-inning win against the Eagles.

Robert Mitchell was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Mihith Narasinghe allowed three hits and struck out 10 for Agassi Prep.

Indian Springs 8, Spring Mountain 5 — At Indian Springs, Devin Sickler and Mason Hamlin each had two doubles to help the Thunderbirds down the Golden Eagles.
