BASEBALL: Lee drives in nine runs, helps Shadow Ridge earn split with Spring Valley

Justin Lee was 7-for-7 with four doubles, a home run and nine RBIs to help Shadow Ridge’s baseball team earn a doubleheader split with visiting Spring Valley in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Shadow Ridge took the opener 12-2 in five innings. Spring Valley rallied to win the second game 14-13.

In the opener, Lee was 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs. Dylan Baker was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and a double, and Isaiah Blaylock went 2-for-3 with a double for Shadow Ridge.

Spring Valley’s Bryce Bullock went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and teammate Humberto Maldonado was 2-for-2.

In a wild nightcap, Spring Valley scored four runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the win after squandering a 10-7 lead in the fifth inning.

Jake Sellinger’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly plated Antony Vasquez with the tying run, and Nick Rupp scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Jack Sellinger was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jaxson Otis went 3-for-5 with four RBIs for Spring Valley in the second game.

Lee was 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Quinn Ayers went 2-f0r-5 with a home run and four RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Bonanza 5-1, Las Vegas 0-3 — At Bonanza, Byron Naftzger spun a two-hitter and struck out eight as the Bengals blanked the Wildcats in the opener of a doubleheader in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Eric Schultz was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs for Bonanza. Torren Brozovich and Levi Klump each went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Bengals.

In the nightcap, Noel Perez scattered eight hits and struck out seven to help the Wildcats earn the split.

Hector Perez was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Diego Delgado went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Las Vegas.

Klump and Lucas Rosenblatt each had two hits for Bonanza in the second game.

Faith Lutheran 7-6, Liberty 5-5 — At Liberty, Kyle Poser’s bunt single led to two runs in the top of the seventh inning of the opening game as the Crusaders battled back in both games to sweep the Patriots in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Faith Lutheran trailed 5-4 in the seventh inning of the first game but had runners at the corners with one out for Poser, who bunted for a single. A wild throw allowed both runners to score and Poser to race to third.

Zack Trageton was 3-for-4 for Faith Lutheran.

In the nightcap, Liam Breden and Jason Eary each drove in two runs in a five-run sixth inning that lifted the Crusaders to the victory. Breden went 2-for-2.

Jacob Rodgers had two hits, including a double, in the opener for Liberty. Jacob Klein was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double for the Patriots in the finale.

Arbor View 6-5, Coronado 8-3 — At Arbor View, Talon Hill threw three scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out two, to help the Aggies win the second game of a doubleheader and salvage a split against the Cougars in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Trevor Jackson was 1-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs for Arbor View, which trailed 3-2 in the nightcap before scoring twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.

In the opener, Landen Rowland went 2-for-2 with a double, and Noah Hemphill was 2-for-3 with a double to lead Coronado to the victory. Jeffrey Ewing was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Cougars, who broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the seventh.

Nick Quintana was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Jackson went 2-for-2 with a double an an RBI for Arbor View.

Boulder City 5-17, Legacy 8-9 — At Legacy, Preston Van Diest went 7-for-8 with five RBIs in the doubleheader to help the Eagles split with the Longhorns in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Van Diest was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and teammate Kodey Rahr went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs as the Eagles won the nightcap. Peyton Koopman was 4-for-5 with four runs for Boulder City.

Van Diest was 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the opener, but Legacy used three doubles in a three-run fifth inning to break a 5-5 tie and earn the win.

Forrest Grevelis was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs, and Hayden LeCates was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs for Legacy in the opener. The Longhorns’ Austin Michals was 2-for-3 with a double in the opener and went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs in the nightcap.

Silverado 13-10, Highland (Calif.) 3-0 — At Silverado, Michael Camburn went 5-for-6 with two triples, a double and six RBIs as the Skyhawks swept a pair of six-inning games from the Bulldogs in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Camburn was 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and four RBIs in the first game. Dax Fellows and Chase Cortez each went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Silverado, which led 8-1 after two innings.

In the nightcap, Jerald Murray and Michael Janosik combined on a three-hitter as the Skyhawks rolled to the win. Murray allowed two hits and struck out eight in five innings.

Camburn was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Cortez went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Payton Ballard was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Silverado. Kevin Pindel went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Fellows was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Skyhawks.

Mojave 8, Tech 7 — At Eldorado, Otto Hernandez manufactured the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Rattlers by the Roadrunners in a quarterfinal of the Sundevil Invitational.

Hernandez walked to lead off the seventh, stole second, then stole third before continuing home when the throw to third got away.

Elijah Glaze was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs for Mojave.

Trevor Kephart was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs for Tech.

Mojave 5, Canyon Springs 3 — At Eldorado, Andrew Foley doubled home Chris Clawson with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Rattlers advanced to the finals of the Sundevil Invitational by edging the Pioneers.

Glaze smacked a three-run home run for Mojave in the first inning, but Canyon Springs rallied to tie the game in the top of the sixth.

Foley doubled in the go-ahead run and later came home on a hit by Nathaniel Sauceda.

Canyon Springs 8, Eldorado 2 — At Chaparral, Nicholas Zink went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to help the Pioneers down the Sundevils in five innings in a quarterfinal of the Sundevil Invitational.

Ryan Loy was 2-for-4 with a double for Canyon Springs, which scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.

Del Sol 10, Lincoln County 4 — At Canyon Springs, Jorge Costa went 3-for-4 with a double to help the Dragons down the Lynx in a quarterfinal of the Sundevil Invitational.

Christian Wallace was 2-for-4 with a double for Del Sol.

Desert Pines 9, Lincoln County 8 — At Canyon Springs, winning pitcher Juan Castaneda went 1-for-3 with two RBIs as the Jaguars edged the Lynx in the Sundevil Invitational.

Cody Thornock doubled and tripled for Lincoln County.

Clark 14, Eldorado 2 — At Chaparral, winning pitcher Matthew Thompson belted a grand slam to cap an eight-run first inning as the Chargers routed the Sundevils in four innings in the Sundevil Invitational.

Thomas Campbell was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs, and Brendan Palmer was 3-for-3 with three runs for Clark.

Guy Tannenbaum was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Miguel Carrillo was 2-for-4 with a double for the Chargers.

Lehi (Utah) 12, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At St. George, Utah, Tyler James went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Pioneers defeated the Spartans in the K.J. Harrison Classic.

Richie Coughlin went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Cimarron.

Cimarron-Memorial 12, Snow Canyon (Utah) 2 — At St. George, Utah, Trevor Doyle was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and the Spartans erupted for eight first-inning runs on their way to a win over the Warriors in the K.J. Harrison Classic.

Justin Lucas was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jaret Godman went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Cimarron. Diego Cardoso was 2-for-5 with a double for the Spartans.

The Meadows 10, Mohave (Ariz.) 10 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., the Mustangs and Thunderbirds played to a four-inning tie in the Route 66 Tournament.

Ethan Fridman had two hits and two RBIs for The Meadows.

Pahranagat Valley 13, West Wendover 3 — At Alamo, Ike Taylor had three hits and three RBIs to help the Panthers roll past the Wolverines in four innings in the Pahranagat Valley Invitational.

Pahranagat Valley 5, Moapa Valley JV 0 — At Alamo, Tabor Maxwell tossed a five-inning no-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts as the Panthers topped the Pirates’ junior varsity in the Pahranagat Valley Invitational.
