BASEBALL: Maningo helps Gators edge Rancho

Drake Maningo was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs as Green Valley’s baseball team edged visiting Rancho 5-4 on Tuesday.

Maningo’s RBI double in the third inning broke a 3-3 tie, and he scored an insurance run on an RBI single by Frankie Fitzgerald.

Rancho pulled within a run on Jimmy Gamboa’s RBI double in the fifth, but reliever Spencer Cofer came on to strike out the next batter to end the threat.

Cofer threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings to get the save.

Carter Gehlken went 2-for-3 for the Gators.

Angel Walker went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and two RBIs to lead Rancho, which led 3-0 after one inning. Gamboa, Joey Walls and Miguel Elicerio each added two hits for Rancho.

Basic 6, Coronado 4 — At Basic, Trent Bixby went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Ryne Nelson was 2-for-4 with a double and a run as the Wolves held off the Cougars.

Garrett Giles went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run for Basic.

Coronado’s John Cascardo went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Jake McClean was 2-for-3 with a run for the Cougars.

Chaparral 5, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Erick Villareal fired a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts as the Cowboys blanked the Bulldogs.

Robert O’Connor went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Chaparral offense.

Las Vegas 7, Valley 2 — At Valley, Carlos Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double, and Trey Chauncey went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Wildcats over the Vikings.

Jason Herrera and Diego Delgado each added a triple for Las Vegas.

Jacob Cruz was 3-for-4 with a double for Valley.

Silverado 10, Foothill 0 — At Silverado, Jerald Murray threw a one-hit shutout, and Michael Camburn went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as the Skyhawks blanked the Falcons in five innings.

Murray struck out five, walked two and hit a batter. Foothill’s lone hit was a double by Tyler Kara in the second inning.

Kevin Pindel was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Chase Cortez finished 1-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs for Silverado, which scored five times in the bottom of the fifth.

Payton Ballard went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Skyhawks.

Liberty 14, Eldorado 4 — At Liberty, Omar Ortiz had a three-run triple to highlight a nine-run fifth-inning as the Patriots topped the Sundevils.

Ortiz was 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs, and his triple ended the game because of the mercy rule.

Stavros Diamandis was 2-for-3 for Liberty. Ed O’Bannon threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Jayzen Ramirez provided a two-run single for the Patriots.

Trevor Swain went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run, and teammate Jason DeMaria had an RBI single to pace Eldorado.

Tech 9, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Alexis Acosta tossed a three-hitter, and had an RBI single and a run, as the Roadrunners defeated the Dragons.

Logan Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run for Tech, which used a four-run second inning to take control.

Isaiah Salazar went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run to lead Del Sol.

Moapa Valley 11, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Koby Frei scattered four hits over seven innings with six strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Pirates past the Jaguars.

Chase Guesman was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Moapa Valley, which led 7-1 after five innings.

Boulder City 18, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Boulder City, the Eagles scored 10 runs in the second inning and eight in the third en route to the five-inning win over the Miners.

Nolan Desantis went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run to help power Boulder City’s 16-hit attack.

Kodey Rahr was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Steve Wagner went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI for Boulder City.

Peyton Koopman and Jake Hubel each added two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles.

Canyon Springs 13, Western 0 — At Western, Trevor Berkemeyer spun a two-hitter to help the Pioneers blank the Warriors in a five-inning game.

Zack Gardner belted a grand slam in the first inning and added an RBI single for Canyon Springs. Nicholas Zink was 2-for-3 with a two-run double, and teammate Rashard Davis finished 1-for-2 with a double and a walk for the Pioneers.

Jordan Keho and Sebastian Reyes supplied Western’s two hits.

Lake Mead 21-29, Mountain View 0-2 — At Lake Mead, Brock Ramsey drove in eight runs to help the Eagles to the doubleheader sweep.

Ramsey was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs in the opener. He went 3-for-3 with a double, a homer, five RBIs and three runs in the nightcap.

Joseph Johnson went 6-for-7 on the day with three doubles, seven runs and four RBIs for Lake Mead.

Indian Springs 13, Calvary Chapel 3 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth to top the Lions.

Christian O’Kelley had three hits and three RBIs for Calvary Chapel.

Pahranagat Valley 5, Lincoln County 4 — At Alamo, Christian Higbee walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to force home Ike Taylor with the winning run as the Panthers edged the Lynx.

Taylor led off the inning with a walk and stole second and went to third on a passed ball. Shawn Wadsworth and Tabor Maxwell were intentionally walked, and Higbee walked on four pitches for the winning run.

Wadsworth was 3-for-3 with two runs for Pahranagat Valley.

Maxwell went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out 14, to get the win.

Pahranagat Valley 5, Lincoln County JV 2 — At Alamo, Brodey Maxwell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Panthers beat the Lynx junior varsity.
