BASEBALL: Martinez, Roadrunners rally to top Jaguars

Abel Martinez knocked in the go-ahead run with a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday to lift host Tech’s baseball team to a 4-3 win over Desert Pines.

Patrick Camburn tossed a six-hitter and struck out seven without allowing an earned run for the Roadrunners.

Iquan Corsey went 3-for-4 to lead the Jaguars.

Liberty 7, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Nate Bennett threw a five-hitter to lead the Patriots over the Falcons.
Bennett struck out four with no walks and didn’t allow an earned run.

Chris Bradford went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Liberty offense. Dan Skelly was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jesse Keiser went 2-for-3 for the Patriots.

Foothill’s Janson Neff was 2-for-3 with a double.

Bishop Gorman 10, Bonanza 2 — At Gorman Cadyn Grenier doubled home two runs in the fourth inning to give the Gaels the lead for good as they downed the Bengals.

Jerrel Latham went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Kenny Meimerstorf was 2-for-4 with a four RBIs, including his 12th home run, a three-run shot in the Gorman’s six-run sixth inning. Grenier was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Moapa Valley 10, Chaparral 2 — At Overton, Kasen Hughes belted a three-run triple to key a seven-run sixth inning as the Pirates topped the Cowboys.

Kannon Evans added a two-run double for the Pirates.

Freddie Briones supplied an RBI double for Chaparral.

Centennial 16, Legacy 7 — At Centennial, Brady Cook supplied three hits, three runs, and two RBIs as the Bulldogs outslugged the Longhorns.

Shane Kahale added two hits and a run for Centennial, which got a three-run triple from Cooper Powell.

Luke Baumgarte had three hits for Legacy, which got a three-run double from Quentin McCray.

Coronado 9, Del Sol 0 — At Coronado, Miles Bice and Cain Brady each went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI as the Cougars blanked the Dragons.

Brad Fogal was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Jeff Belknap drove in three runs for Coronado.

Four Coronado pitchers combined on a three-hitter.

Basic 15, Eldorado 4 — At Eldorado, winning pitcher Tyler Long went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and struck out nine to lead the Wolves past the Sundevils.

Anthony Lee provided three hits and five RBIs, and Skyler Mahoney had three hits and three RBIs for Basic, which got two hits from Mikey York.

Lucio Arreola had four hits to lead Eldorado, which got two hits from Brandon Gallegos.

Sunrise Mountain 12, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Saul Blanco was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and five RBIs to lead the Mines over the Bulldogs in five innings.

Brandon Medeiros went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Sunrise Mountain, which had 11 hits.

Austin Ganigan allowed an unearned run on four hits with eight strikeouts to get the complete-game win.

‘Charismatic’ prep baseball coach dies at 57

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
