BASEBALL: Mustangs start strong, down Trailblazers

Robbie Galvan went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs on Tuesday, and Shadow Ridge’s baseball team used a six-run first inning on its way to an 11-8 victory over host Durango.

Francisco Robles was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Tyler Burton was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Brady Hoskins was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Jakob Chambers went 2-for-5 for the Mustangs.

Jacob Skipper went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Brayden Williams was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Trailblazers, who got a home run and three RBIs from Sam Melvin.

Las Vegas 14, Canyon Springs 4 — At Las Vegas, Jaime Solis was 4-for-4 with a double, and Eddie Ojeda tripled, doubled and had four RBIs to lead the Wildcats by the Pioneers in six innings.

Jared Herrera was 3-for-4, and Jose Sanchez had two doubles for Las Vegas.

Erick Espinoza and Jordan Gainey each had two hits for Canyon Springs.

Sierra Vista 11, Arbor View 0 — At Arbor View, Tyler Charlton threw five shutout innings, scattering eight hits on no walks, to guide the Mountain Lions over the Aggies.

Bailey Welter was 2-for-2 with a two-run triple, and Chandler Smith supplied two hits and two RBIs for Sierra Vista, which scored nine runs in the third inning.

Kaid Urban went 3-for-3, and Joe Fitzhugh had two hits to lead Arbor View.

Silverado 4, Rancho 1 — At Silverado, Nick Kawano tossed a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk to help the Skyhawks defeat the Rams.

Michael Camburn had two hits and an RBI for Silverado.

Centennial 13, Wooster 3 — At Centennial, Kyle Horton went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and the Bulldogs routed the Colts in five innings.

Will Loucks hit a two-run home run as part of Centennial’s eight-run second inning. Chase Caindec went 1-for-1 with an RBI, and Ricky Koplow tripled for the Bulldogs.

Anthony Saccente pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out six to earn the victory.

Green Valley 13, Northridge (Colo.) 0 — At Green Valley, Blake Inouye tossed a five-inning two-hitter to help the Gators down the Grizzlies.

Troy Cropper was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Cody Milner was 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs for Green Valley, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning.

Anthony Hatch was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Keola Paragas was 2-for-3 with a double for the Gators.

Bishop Gorman 11, Galena 1 — At Gorman, Cadyn Grenier belted a grand slam, and Cole Krzmarzick and Matt Hudgins also homered to lead the Gaels by the Grizzlies in five innings at the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Hudgins finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Drew Newson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Gorman.

Alex Perron tossed a three-hitter and struck out three for the Gaels.

Tim Lichty had an RBI double in the first inning for Galena.

Boulder City 6, Chaparral 0 — At Boulder City, Peyton Koopman and Nick Giunta combined on a one-hitter as the Eagles blanked the Cowboys.

Koopman went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI, and Preston Van Diest was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Boulder City.

Colton Bosnos was 2-for-4 with a double, and Mario Castanon was 2-for-4 for the Eagles.

Desert Pines 13, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Sunrise Mountain, Iquan Corsey went 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs, four runs and three stolen bases to power the Jaguars past the Miners.

Trevor Nofoa was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Jose Avelino and Natron Auelua-Naki each had a double for Desert Pines.

Trey Smith and Josh Brown each had a double for Sunrise Mountain.

Tech 13, Virgin Valley 3 — At Silver Bowl Park, Elijah Robertson was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to power the Roadrunners to a six-inning win over the Bulldogs.

Elias Peinado, Abel Martinez and Zach West each supplied two hits and two RBIs for Tech, which used a nine-run sixth inning to close out the game.

Ricky Trujillo and Cody Faught each had two hits to lead Virgin Valley.

Agassi Prep 13, Adelson School 4 — At Adelson School, Kameron Burrell went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs as the Stars downed the Lions in five innings.

Brandon Lewis went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, and Ronald Harris was 2-for-3 with a double for Agassi Prep, which scored seven runs in the second inning to break a 4-4 tie.

Jacob Justiana hit a two-run home run, and Ethan Finkelstein had a two-run double in the bottom of the first to account for all of Adelson School’s runs.

Pahranagat Valley 22, Mountain View 4 — At Mountain View, Christian and Paden Higbee each had three hits, and the Panthers scored 12 times in the top of the sixth inning to rout the Saints.

Cody Stirling added two hits for Pahranagat Valley.

Noah Van Kempen drove in two runs for Mountain View.
