BASEBALL: Neighbors’ triple helps Trailblazers top Bulldogs in extra innings

Brett Neighbors tripled home the winning run in the top of the ninth inning to give Durango’s baseball team a 5-4 road win over Centennial on Friday.

Artie Gallegos led off the ninth with a single and scored on Neighbors’ one-out triple.

Neighbors was 2-for-3, and Anthony Parry homered for the Trailblazers.

Will Loucks was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI to lead Centennial.

Faith Lutheran 13, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Brenden Meyer pitched a no-hitter and recorded 12 strikeouts to help the Crusaders blank the Pioneers in five innings.

Meyer’s lone walk came with two outs in the fourth inning.

Logan Etherington finished 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs for the Crusaders.

Desert Pines 14, Sunrise Mountain 9 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Jaguars rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to beat the Miners.

Chevy Auelua-Naki went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs to lead Desert Pines, which seized momentum with seven runs in the fourth inning.

Saul Blanco went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBIs and a stolen base to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Bishop Gorman 11, Legacy 0 — At Gorman, Conor Bredin tossed a five-inning one-hitter, striking out five and walking one, to lead the Gaels by the Longhorns.

Cadyn Grenier went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Kenny Meimerstorf was 2-for-2 with a home run and a double for Gorman.

Willie Jumper, Cole Krzmarzick and Michael Blasko each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Gaels, who got a three-run home run from Jerrel Latham.

Moapa Valley 10, Cheyenne 4 — At Cheyenne, the Pirates rallied from an early hole to beat the Desert Shields.

Kasen Hughes and Conner Mortensen had doubles for Moapa, which fell behind 2-1 before taking control with a four-run third inning.

Lamon Harvey homered for Cheyenne.

Tech 18, Virgin Valley 1 — At Tech, Elias Peinado went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBIs to help the Roadrunners roll past the Bulldogs in five innings.

Josh West went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs to help Tech, and teammate Bryan Casas went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.

Roadrunners pitcher Abel Martinez tossed a four-hitter, striking out 10.

Desert Oasis 4, Rancho 2 — At Desert Oasis, Chris Van Kuren went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help the Diamondbacks defeat the Rams.

Jordyn Compehos had a double and two RBIs to help Desert Oasis.

Bryce Harrell went 2-for-4 to lead Rancho.

Liberty 5, Sierra Vista 3 — At Liberty, Chris Bradford went 2-for-3 with a double to help the Patriots edge the Mountain Lions.

Jesse Keiser went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Liberty.

Matthew Almaguer had a double and an RBI to lead the way for Sierra Vista.

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Silverado 1 — At Cimarron, Gerald Robins went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Spartans past the Skyhawks.

Brennan Bahr threw three scoreless innings of relief with five strikeouts to get the win.

Lincoln County 18-17, Lake Mead 3-0 — At Panaca, Joey Vincent fired a five-inning two-hitter in the nightcap as the Lynx swept the Eagles.

Vincent struck out seven, walked three and went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Colton Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and McClain O’Connor went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the second game.

In the opener, the Lynx scored 12 runs in the second inning to take control.

Mitchell O’Connor was 2-for-2 with a double, and Christian Florence and Dakota Cluff each went 2-for-3 for Lincoln County.
