BASEBALL: Offense sends Grizzlies by Trailblazers

Spring Valley’s Michael Macove was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, five RBIs and a stolen base to power the Grizzlies to a 14-6 home win over Durango on Thursday.

Zane Drechler supplied three hits and three RBIs, Taylor Robison had two hits and two RBIs, and Connery Callaway belted a solo home run for Spring Valley, which had two five-run innings.

Sam Melvin doubled for the Trailblazers.

Arbor View 6, Palo Verde 0 — At Palo Verde, Sam Pastrone tossed a seven-hitter and struck out five as the Aggies blanked the Panthers.

Sid Cutting had two hits and two RBIs, and Gabe Gonzalez and Quinn Gallagher each had two hits, a run and an RBI for Arbor View.

Bradley Lewis and Sam Powers each had two hits for Palo Verde.

Basic 3, Wooster 2 — At Basic, Logan Green went 6 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts to earn the win as the Wolves held off the Colts.

Ryne Nelson was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Roger Riley supplied an RBI single in the fourth inning for Basic, which got a double and a run from Tanner Roundy.

Michael Sowers had an RBI walk, and Austin Chipman added an RBI single for Wooster, which scored both runs in the top of the seventh.

Las Vegas 7, Valley 1 — At Valley, Jamie Solis and Armando Corral combined on a four-hitter as the Wildcats cruised by the Vikings.

Solis struck out five in six innings and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jose Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a double for Las Vegas.

Isaiah Cardenas had a double for Valley.

Centennial 9, Eldorado 6 — At Centennial, Zachary Dixon tossed six solid innings, yielding two earned runs with nine strikeouts and two walks to earn the win as the Bulldogs outslugged the Sundevils.

Will Loucks was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and teammates Cooper Powell and Travis Stevens each supplied two hits and two runs for Centennial, which jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead.

Trevor Swain had an RBI double, and Josh Brown had two hits and a run to lead Eldorado.

Bishop Gorman 16, Grandview (Colo.) 6 — At Gorman, Brandon Wulff went 2-for-2 with two home runs and five RBIs, and the Gaels scored 13 runs in the final two innings of a six-inning win over the Wolves.

Matt Hudgins went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, and Austin Cram was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Gorman, which also got a home run and three RBIs from Cole Krzmarzick.

Chaparral 14, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Chaparral, Tyler Crone fired a one-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks as the Cowboys beat the Miners in five innings.

Sunrise Mountain got an infield hit in the top of the first.

Matthew Ellison was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs, Luis Giro went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Tommy Crone was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Daniel Herrera and Chad Clark each added two hits for the Cowboys.

Rancho 14, Canyon Springs 0 — At Rancho, David Modler went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs to help the Rams to the five-inning win.

Bryce Harrell and Kavion Kealoha each went 2-for-3 for Rancho, which scored 10 runs in the fourth inning.

Jose Verdugo tossed three shutout innings to get the win.

Boulder City 15, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Colton Bosnos went 4-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs to help the Eagles down the Jaguars.

Austin Shepard added a double and four RBIs, and Patrick Garvin was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City, which scored five runs in the top of the seventh.

Austin Wishard was 2-for-3 with three runs, and Peyton Koopman went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI for the Eagles.

Desert Pines’ Iquan Corsey hit a three-run home run.

Moapa Valley 10, Virgin Valley 0 — At Overton, Jared Repp threw a three-hitter as the Pirates beat the Bulldogs in five innings.

Kannon Evans had a solo home run, and Justin Hughes went 3-for-3 for Moapa Valley.

Jake Repp added an RBI double, and J.R. Redd had an RBI single for the Pirates.

The Meadows 13-13, Mountain View 3-1 — At Mountain View, Alexander Agrawal had three hits in each game of the doubleheader as the Mustangs swept the Saints in a pair of six-inning games.

Agrawal had five RBIs in the opener. Also in the first game, Adam Martinez had three hits and two RBIs, and Austin Neal added two hits and two RBIs for The Meadows.

Nabeel Afzal and Conor Cheek combined on a three-hitter in the nightcap. Martinez had two hits, and Cheek supplied two hits and three RBIs for the Mustangs.

‘Charismatic’ prep baseball coach dies at 57

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
