BASEBALL: Palo Verde uses 13-run fourth to win at Legacy

Palo Verde’s baseball team used a 13-run fourth inning to rally for a 25-15, six-inning win at Legacy on Tuesday.

The Panthers trailed 9-6 going into the fourth, but scored 11 runs before Legacy recorded an out.

J.D. Brooks was 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, four RBIs and four runs for Palo Verde.

Mitchell Rathbun was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Sam Powers and Zach Ortale each added three hits and two RBIs for the Panthers.

Legacy’s Donta Williams went 4-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs. Anthony Golemme, Diego Portillo and Alex Tadd each supplied three hits for the Longhorns.

Las Vegas 3, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Hector Perez was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs as the Wildcats edged the Bengals.

Diego Delgado tossed six strong innings to earn the win, and Eddie Ojeda threw a scoreless seventh inning for the save for Las Vegas.

Jaime Solis tripled for the Wildcats, who scored two runs in the top of the first.

Chris Dunn went 2-for-3 with a triple for Bonanza.

Tech 9, Moapa Valley 3 — At Burkholder Field, David Gulasarian’s two-run single in the bottom of the fifth broke a 2-2 tie, and the Roadrunners pulled away for the win over the Pirates.

Moapa Valley led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth, but Tech scored four runs to take the lead. The Roadrunners tacked on five runs in the sixth to pull away.

Jace Otis went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases to lead Tech’s offense. Sebastian Fitzgerald was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and teammate Alexis Acosta went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Fitzgerald went the distance, allowing one earned run on nine hits, to get the win.

Chaz Cornwall and Bo Redd each went 2-for-4 with a double for Moapa Valley.

Desert Pines 6, Del Sol 4 — At Desert Pines, Juan Casteneda went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Andres Corbett pitched a complete game as the Jaguars defeated the Dragons.

Luis Tlatenchi was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Desert Pines.

Zach Trujillo was 3-for-4 with a double for Del Sol.

Sunrise Mountain 6, Virgin Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Jace Weaver fired a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Miners over the Bulldogs.

Angel Chavez, Donavan Hansen and Andy Mojena each hit a run-scoring single for Sunrise Mountain, which scored three runs in the third to take a 5-3 lead.

Bishop Gorman 26, Durango 1 — At Gorman, Brandon Wulff homered, tripled and drove in five runs in an 11-run first inning that helped the Gaels rout the Trailblazers in five innings.

Cadyn Grenier was 4-for-4 with a double, four runs and three RBIs, and Wulff, Nik Davis and Jordan Sadovia each had three of the Gaels’ 27 hits.

Seventeen players scored at least one run for Gorman, which got a grand slam from Myles Denson and homers from Bradley Doerpinghaus and Marques Paige.

Kenny Busse was 1-for-3 with a double and a run for Durango.

Silverado 18, Valley 0 — At Valley, James Skelley doubled, tripled, scored twice and drove in a run to help the Skyhawks to the five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Dillon Johnson doubled twice with an RBI and four runs, and Mitchell Ballard also doubled twice with two RBIs and two runs for Silverado. Vincent Taormina was 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs, and Kevin Pindel and Jordan Thomson combined on a two-hit shutout for Silverado.

Michael Camburn supplied two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Skyhawks.

Isaiah Cardenas had a double for Valley.

Liberty 18, Canyon Springs 2 — At Liberty, Nick Rush was 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Nick Woolery went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, as the Patriots routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Preston Pavlica had two hits and three RBIs, and Justin Lutes doubled twice for Liberty, which scored 12 runs in the first inning.

Carlos Alcala and Zack Gardner each supplied two hits for Canyon Springs.

Shadow Ridge 7, Centralia (Wash.) 6 — At Shadow Ridge, Koby Millner singled to left field with one out in the bottom of the sixth to score pinch runner Jakob Chambers with the go-ahead run as the Mustangs beat the Tigers.

Tevin Reynolds doubled to start the sixth, and was replaced by Chambers, who took third on an error.

Eric Jordan was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI to lead the Shadow Ridge offense, and teammate Grant Mohn drove in two runs.

Jordan also threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win.

Riley Christiansen was 2-for-5 for Centralia.

Boulder City 10, Chaparral 0 — At Boulder City, Steve Wagner fired a two-hitter, and the Eagles took advantage of nine Chaparral errors to beat the Cowboys in six innings.

Wagner struck out four and walked two and also drove in two runs.

Austin Wsihard was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Eagles, who scored seven runs in the fifth.

Needles 20, Laughlin 5 — At Laughlin, Trenton Poe-Evans was 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI as the Mustangs routed the Cougars in five innings.

William Dunn went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Mason Paget was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Needles.

Benny Robinson and Derek Wagstaff each added two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs.

Sandy Valley 21, Calvary Chapel 4 — At Paul Meyer Park, winning pitcher Logan Shelton was 3-for-5 with a triple, and the Sidewinders used a seven-run second inning and a nine-run fourth inning to rout the Lions in five innings.

Lane Eastham was 2-for-4 with a double for Sandy Valley.
