BASEBALL: Pastrone helps Aggies rally to edge Mustangs

Sam Pastrone tripled, drove in three runs and scored three runs, including the eventual game-winner in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday as Arbor View’s baseball team outlasted visiting Shadow Ridge, 12-11.

The Aggies, who led 7-0 after two innings, trailed 11-8 entering the bottom of the sixth before scoring four runs on one hit to pull out the win.

Pastrone drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Kaid Urban with the first run of the inning. Joe Fitzhugh was hit by a pitch to force in Quinn Gallagher to make it 11-10.

A fielder’s choice allowed Nick Quintana to score before Pastrone came home on an error.

Francisco Robles had two hits, including a grand slam, for the Mustangs. Tyler Burton and Eric Jordan each had three hits for Shadow Ridge.

Sierra Vista 5, Spring Valley 2 — At Sierra Vista, Cole Crosby went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs as the Mountain Lions downed the Grizzlies.

Kavan Alferaz was 2-for-2 for Sierra Vista, and teammate Nolan Kingham tossed a six-hitter and struck out eight.

Taylor Robison went 2-for-3 with a double for Spring Valley.

Durango 5, Palo Verde 2 — At Durango, Anthony Parry pitched a four-hitter and struck out 15 to lead the Trailblazers by the Panthers.

Parry went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, and John Wright was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Durango.

Kevin Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Palo Verde.

Rancho 14, Las Vegas 2 — At Las Vegas, Zach Barnhart went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Rams in a rout over the Wildcats.

Winning pitcher Dylan Pletsch was 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs.

Jeremiah Garcia was 2-for-4 for the Wildcats.

Silverado 13, Valley 8 — At Silverado, James Skelly went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs, and the Skyhawks used a six-run sixth inning to hold off Valley.

Omar Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs for the Vikings.

Boulder City 19, Moapa Valley 14 — At Boulder City, Zach Murphy went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs as the Eagles outslugged the Pirates.

Preston VanDiest was 3-for-4 with a double, four runs and an RBI, and Will Knudsen was 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs for Boulder City. Colton Bosnos was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Taylor Wold went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for the Eagles, who also got a home run from Austin Wishard.

J.R. Redd went 3-for-5, and Jake Repp was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Moapa Valley. Jared Repp went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Pirates, who got a home run from Chad Jones.

Tech 12, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Abel Martinez was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three runs and three RBIs to lead the Roadrunners by the Miners in five innings.

Bryan Casas was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, and Elias Peinado was 3-for-3 with three runs for Tech.

Sebastian Fitzgerald tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight for the Roadrunners.

Trey Smith was 2-for-2 with a triple for the Miners.

Virgin Valley 7, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Cody Faught went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs and tossed a five-hitter to help the Bulldogs top the Jaguars.

Koby Smothers was 3-for-4 for Virgin Valley.

Iquan Corsey went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Desert Pines.

Green Valley 18, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Jarrett Perns was 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs to help the Gators rout the Pioneers in five innings.

Keaton Smith was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for Green Valley.

Troy Cropper, Cord Dinglasan and Blake Inouye combined on a two-hitter for the Gators.

Chaparral 10, Western 4 — At Chaparral, Tommy Crone was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and threw three perfect innings with six strikeouts to lead the Cowboys over the Warriors.

Luis Giro went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Mark O’Connor was 2-for-2 with three runs for Chaparral, which led 9-0 after three innings.

The Meadows 20-23, Lake Mead 0-1 — At Heritage Park, Adam Martinez had two hits and two RBIs in the opener and four hits and two RBIs in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Eagles in a pair of five-inning games.

Alex Agrawal and Martinez combined on a one-hitter in the first game. Agrawal struck out 11 in four innings.

In the finale, Conor Cheek and Brian Fridman each had three hits for The Meadows.

Needles 15, Lee Williams (Ariz.) 1 — At Kingman, Ariz., Jason Neverov was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Mustangs to the five-inning win.

Aidan Shaver went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and William Dunn and Brett Converse each added two hits for Needles.
