BASEBALL: Portaro, Bulldogs edge Spartans

Jake Portaro singled home Jared Drizin with no outs in the bottom of the eighth Monday to give Centennial’s baseball team a 1-0 home win over Cimarron-Memorial.
Drizin and Kyle Horton started the inning with back-to-back walks to bring up Portaro, who singled to left to end the game.
Jordon Wyke threw a scoreless inning in relief of Zachary Dixon to get the win. Dixon threw seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out four.
Portaro was 3-for-4 with a double, and Travis Stevens went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs.
Cimarron’s Larry Quaney threw seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out 10.
Basic 8, Rancho 7 — At Basic, Logan Green struck out Carlos Hernandez looking with the tying run on first to end the game as the Wolves held off the Rams for their 19th consecutive win.
Rancho was trailing 8-1 going into the seventh inning.
Ryne Nelson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs for Basic, and teammate Cory Wills went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
Angel Walker hit a solo home run for Rancho.
Desert Oasis 6, Bonanza 0 — At Desert Oasis, Nolan Kingham threw a six-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks to lead the Diamondbacks by the Bengals.
Kyle Fuentes was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Gage Ventura and Caeden Marin each added a double and an RBI for Desert Oasis.
Spring Valley 3, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Bryce Bullock fired a three-hitter to lead the Grizzlies past the Trojans.
Bullock struck out five with no walks.
Jake Sellinger went 3-for-4, and Joey Melinchok was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Spring Valley.
Faith Lutheran 5, Sierra Vista 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Greg Sylvester was 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and the Crusaders held off a late rally to top the Mountain Lions.
Sierra Vista scored three in the sixth and one in the seventh, but Chad Jones pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn the save.
Justin Rasavage was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for Sierra Vista.
Clark 6, Cheyenne 2 — At Clark, Matthew Thompson was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Chargers over the Desert Shields.
Stefan McLin was 2-for-3 for Clark, and Matthias Blodgett struck out six in six innings to get the win.
Green Valley 10, Foothill 0 — At Green Valley, Blake Inouye threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks to lead the Gators to the five-inning win over the Falcons.
Inouye also went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.
Jarrett Perns was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Drake Maningo went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley.
Coronado 10, Eldorado 0 — At Coronado, Daniel Witoslawski threw three-hitless innings with five strikeouts to lead the Cougars to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.
Sterling Saltz was 1-for-2 with two runs, and Nicco Festa went 1-for-1 with two runs for Coronado, which got a triple from Nate Ruiz.
Dane Wasden allowed two hits in two scoreless innings of relief for the Cougars.
Indian Springs 12, Lake Mead 11 — At Indian Springs, Nino Alvarez doubled home Daniel Highfield with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Thunderbirds the win over the Eagles.
Alvarez was 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Ryan Frank was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for Indian Springs. Highfield was 2-for-3 with a double.
Mitch Dolinar and Hunter Harris each went 2-for-4 with a double for Lake Mead.
Mojave 7, Western 0 — At Mojave, the Rattlers beat the Warriors by forfeit.
